The worst lawyer I've ever encountered. Charged for emails and refused to give pertinent details throughout the case. When I needed information charged for it. Will not fight for you. Risk averse and will absolutely take advantage of you. Rests on his laurels claiming 30 years of experience taking the easy cases. When you get those "this dude is bad news feeling" listen to it. I didn't and I paid the price. Literally.

As an out of country service member with a spouse unwilling to cooperate stateside, I saw my divorce as being a long and expensive one. Mr. Clay disproved both of my fears. My divorce was completed very fast, professionally and at a fair price. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Thanks again!

J. Michael Clay did a great job modifying a child order for us. The father tried giving trouble about signing again and J. Michael Clay knee how to handle it. He not only helped to clearly walk me through the scary process and make it comfortable, he’s also very affordable in comparison to other lawyers in the area. He went above and beyond. He was great at answering and returning phone calls. He helped with legal advice every step of the way even when he didn’t have to anymore. When the father started with threats of petitions J. Michael Clay was able to recommend other knowledgeable and experienced lawyers like himself as he was honest about not being able to take on more case load during that time. He left me in EXCELLENT hands with the new lawyer who confirmed that he did a great job on the previous child order modifications. I’ve hired 3 lawyers in my lifetime for various reasons and J. Michael Clay is my favorite thus far. I highly recommend him to my friends and family. He really went the extra mile.

One of Mr Clay's main assets is experience. I could tell from the way he handled my situation from the first time I came to his office that he was the best person to help me out with my divorce. He constantly updated me on the progress and and was available any time i called/emailed him for help. Horrible!!! He has no backbone and does not fight for you. He allows the other lawyer to push him around and in return tries to convince you to roll over and let it be. He is also disorganized and mixes cases up. When brought to his attention, he's defensive. He even sent us someone else's documents, talk about lack of client confidentiality. Required documents had to be sent a couple times; I swear he prepares only the night before. He's the biggest mistake we have ever made. Do not use him.

Lacks ethics, but perhaps that's what you'd want in a lawyer if you're of questionable character.

This guy is a moron and very unprofessional. When you talk to him on the phone he is just spitting numbers at you like you aren't worth his time. He told me and my fiancé that his initial cost is $10,000 and after that it will be an additional $15,000-$20,000 for his services. SAVE YOUR TIME AND DO NOT CALL HIM.

Being located in Georgia, I was concerned about finding a good lawyer who could represent me and was knowledgeable with the military aspect of my case. Mr. Clay did exactly what he said he would do for us, he helped us adopt our little boy. Mr. Clay was always there when we had questions that needed to be answered. We never felt like we were alone in the adoption. He was very upfront with everything and he was trustworthy. I would go back to his firm if I ever need a lawyer again.

I first sent an internet request on a Thursday, spoke to him on a Friday, hired him the following Monday, and the annulment was done the very next Monday. Before I hired him, he spent time thoughtfully listening to my problem and had already planned a way ahead. Even with the screw up with the cause numbers at the court house - which was not his fault - I don't see how this could have been accomplished any more professionally and responsibly. As an out of state service member, I was nervous about hiring someone over the phone. I could have easily been screwed over, to be honest. But he absolutely hit a home run and I would gladly recommend him to anyone else looking for an intelligent, thoughtful and diligent attorney.
