John Powell handled probate for my husband’s estate. He was always very professional, articulate, and willing to answer any of my questions. I would not hesitate to recommend his services.

Last year I filed for a revision to my original order due to changing circumstances. Mr. Powell and I met and reviewed my existing order and what changes I was wanting to accomplish. He created a plan of action and we proceeded. The first obstacle to overcome was that my original case was in another city, so that presented problems of its own. Mr. Powell did what he thought was best and connected me with another attorney to help in that city to get the case transferred, she did an amazing job as well.

Once the case was back in Brazoria Mr. Powell and his staff took time and patience with me and my long process. In the end myself, my former spouse, and our daughter were all very happy by our final outcome. Mr. Powell openly informed me that my case could take a lot of time, and it did (10 months) , and it could also be a long shot but with continual communication we were able to come to the best resolution any family could ask for; 50/50. Our daughter was our primary focus on this revision, not what was best for myself and not what was best for her father but what was best for HER. When divorcing parents try to smear one another no one wins, and especially not the child. Mr. Powell always helped keep our daughters interest in the forefront and because he did that and didn't sugar coat anything, we were able to all end up HAPPY! HAPPY should be everyone's goal especially when a child is involved in a divorce. I have been through one of the nastiest divorces on record. The actual divorce process lasted over 2 1/2 years. I am finally divorced and my ex is still fighting me for custody!! I hired John Powell III on June of 2013 for child custody. Talk about a lasting experience, I'm just now reviewing and still remember one of the biggest mistake I've ever made. A lot of the documents he gave me were late, his staff lost my documents and finally after thousands of dollars going down the drain, he sent me a motion of withdraw after spending over $4000 with him. I had to find another attorney in the middle of my case, which costed me dearly. Went with Kaiggen Law & Associates and what a difference it was. Don't put your legal battles or money in line with this firm.

I had an experience in a civil divorce case in which I was held in contempt. John Powell represented me in this case and we took it to the Texas appellate court and do to the letter of the law and John’s extensive knowledge of the law and his immaculate articulation in law language, the Texas appellate court found John’s argument to be true and factual and had no other recourse but to sustain our argument. My divorce was very lengthy, messy, and felt neverending, but Mr Powell stayed on it the entire 2 years. Very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, caring. I certainly wouldn't wish divorce on any marriage but if it happens i highly recommend Mr. Powell.

John Powell was incredibly rude, unprofessional and condescending. He overbilles and gets his fragile ego bruised when you ask for an explanation. He is negligent and lazy. I had a horrible experience with this lawyer and it was a huge waste of my time and money. Typical lawyer who wants to collect fees and not do the work. He does not update you on the status of your case and is one of those men who naturally still thinks that women are not equal. His tone and arrogance is off putting. I can only imagine what his wife has to deal with daily.
