I have known the owners and been in their employ for many years, so I can tell you that they care about their clients and work hard to provide the best service possible. Mr. Scales is an attorney with years of experience and a heart toward service and excellence.

Well I called to make an appointment on Wednesday spoke with the wife of the attorney Ms. Billie, she was very pleasant and made me have hope.... Well Friday is here and at 1pm no one was in the office. About 15 mins after one the door opens I go inside introduce myself as was told without missing a beat to have a seat she would be right with me...I am then handed intake forms for both for CPS and Criminal Defense filled them out handed them in and was told to wait again. Then a lady comes and says we will be going into the conference room ...She begins her conversation by saying."I don't judge anyone and I'm not here to judge anyone." I give her the petition and affidavits that are false accusations. She begins to read and then she asked me a question as I begin to answer she yells at me and tells me that she isn't trying to be rude but she needs to inform herself about the case... Which is fine but she asked me a question that I didn't get a chance to amswer.... Then after reading the one affidavits she puts the paper down and tells me that the lawyer wouldn't take my case because to much drugs are involved but didn't bother to even hear my side of the story automatically judging me because of the charges..... So much for not judging is what I say to her. Didn't even get a chance to hear how I had become in the situation I was in to begin with.....As for a attorney consultation didn't get it instead got a very disrespectful rude cold hearted secretary who did the consultation and it was at her discretion what cases very given to Mr.Scales and what's not ....The other lady with her back by the wall was very pleasant wish I had talk to her then I probably would have had help....or if Ms. Billie was there ....As a wife of a Veteran I'm really disappointed. Your websites bible verse advertisement is what really drew me to your office..I guess that was a big mistake, which was really all for nothing ...Thanks ... So much for having hope....

Paid $3400 paralegal Dawn took our intake. The intervention that Dawn drafted up was filed but Mr. Scales didn’t know if it had been filed when asked by opposing counsel. Mr. Scales when he showed up to court 5 min before court started hadn’t even read our file and didn’t know anything about the case and mounted no defense against custody being given to the other party. He didn’t even put anyone on the stand on our behave and against the other party. DO NOT USE!!!!

it took Melanie about 12 months for a child support modification/change of custody. All the while I'm paying my ex child support when I have the kids. Three times the paperwork was sent. First time it was signed but I'm guessing the instructions were not clear and it wasn't notarized. Second time Melanie put the wrong information on the paperwork... 11 months later the correct paperwork and signature was done. Melanie would tell me she sent paperwork two days ago, I would call 2 weeks later because my ex didn't get it and she would say yeah, I'll have that out Friday. When I called the main office to make sure Melanie indeed sent the completed paperwork to the real lawyer they suddenly said it was being held until full payment was made. I had never heard this until then. Melanie was often condescending in tone for no reason, lies to her customer(me), and frankly doesn't do her due diligence in her work. Melanie likes to tell me to do a job that I hired her for. She told me to call child support to tell them to stop the child support payments. I did, but they said I had a lawyer and wouldn't talk to me. I paid my ex over $14,000 that I will most likely never get back. Choose another law firm.

I Don't think Melanie is giving the lawyer everything I asked her. She was rude to me and would not answer my question about what she asked. I'm a Veteran looking for help. I don't see how he wouldn't. The Honorable people always gets messed over. I Don't get this at all.

Front desk was so sweet. The lawyer, Mr. Scales , on the other hand was a complete joke. He even took a personal phone call during our very short meeting about grocery shopping.

I was hoping to leave a better review, but 2 stars because we did eventually make it to the judge. The judge gave a verbal ok and an assurance that the court documents would be done correctly this time, but I haven't been informed by the firm of it being done nor received the court papers so far and now it seems I'm being dodged by the firm. When I called and asked about the documents, I was told by Misty that I'd be called back. 3 days later, I called them back since they didn't call me and it's back to no one answering the phone again.
I hired them around April of 2018 and finally got toward the end of the case in August of 2019, and the paperwork was still cited wrong despite me telling them multiple times what needed to be done. Mr. Scales shook my hand after court as if everything were done and he had no intention of finishing up the final documents. It took nearly 2 years for a custody modification, went through about 4 paralegals, and I still didn't get the final court papers. I was really looking forward to leaving a 5 star, but sadly, I don't recommend this firm, no matter how pleasant some of the people were. The cost isn't worth the incomplete service.

If you are looking for an overpriced attorney that will have no problem taking your money, and never following through, then this is the office for you.
I retained David Scales in September 2017 (paid $5800) for a child support modification and transfer of jurisdiction. It’s now almost July 2019 and I still have not met the man and it seems like he has no intention of closing out my case. I signed an agreement when I retained David that laid out the financial terms. After a year of no updates on my case, I was informed that the paralegal that gave me said agreement was not actually authorized to give it to me in the first place and that they would not move forward until my balance was paid in full. I paid the balance and 6 months later I received a call stating again that I needed to pay my balance before they would finalize my case. I’ve had to show proof of payment twice since then and the case is still open.
We had a court date scheduled last month that I had to cancel because financial discovery has still not been done. How would you recalculate child support without this???
With the exception of Nicole, their newest paralegal (this is the fifth one since I hired them), this office is incompetent and unprofessional.
I will be filing a formal complaint with the Texas State Bar Association.

Was losing faith with this law firm until Nicole showed up. She has been a great asset and has my case moving. Very easy to work with especially since I am not in the local area! Thank you!

When I first spoke with this law firm I felt immediately that my case was in good hands with people that took a professional approach toward my case, and a personable approach toward me. Nicole was more than happy to sit and speak with me for a while about herself and get to know me and my situation in depth. Nicole is a GOD-send and has a very professional and tenacious way about her while being personable and open. I would recommend this law firm to anyone seeking real help to real problems from people that are professionals in their field as well as being caring with concern and compassion. Nicole was great and finished my issues in hour as opposed to months on end from other paralegals. Nicole did a great job and I don’t live in Texas which made it more difficult. So I appreciate that.

Overall the people in the office were very nice. From start to finish, my case took about 6 months. I felt that it took a lot longer than it should have but none the less it was done. I was not impressed by Mr. Scales but I didn't see much of him. I was however very impressed by his paralegal Nicole. She made herself very aware of my case quickly and made sure that my case was taken to court as it had been taking way too long. Thank you, Nicole, for all your hard work on getting my case wrapped up. You're a great asset to this office.

I was down on this law firm because of previous paralegals but Nicole has made me trust in this law firm again she has done an outstanding job working on my case.

At the beginning of this ordeal, I tried to remain positive. Upon my first meeting at the law office of William David Scales in Belton Texas, I was relieved to be greeted by a compassionate legal team. I will always be greatly indebted to the services they provided me. I left their office feeling optimistic and confident in their abilities to handle my case. I think that if you expect a realistic outcome that is what you will receive. My case did not even make it to court before it was dismissed!!! For any people not happy with the services rendered, maybe they just expected unrealistic outcomes. Amazing people! Billie Sue was extremely helpful, so I can imagine the same would be with Mr. Scales. If you're looking for someone who will put themself in your shoes and fight for you then I would highly recommend this God driven family.
