It is hard to describe in words how grateful and appreciative I am of having Nick Mermiges as my lawyer. I have never met a lawyer as passionate and dedicated to family law as Nick. Nick has the ability to show his clients the entire 360-degree view on an issue, any issue. He is also able to help his clients understand where to find common ground when you may believe there is no common ground between yourself and your former spouse. I had the privilege to work with Nick during a divorce case and later a custody case. In both cases Nick was very professional and definitely made me feel very confident knowing he would do the best job he could in making it as pleasant of a process as possible. Of course these circumstances are not easy but he certainly fought for me and never backed down and definitely communicated any advice he could in guiding me with much expertise. Nick was successful for both of my cases. While he is a successful lawyer, his Email communication is less than professional. While representing me for one case, I requested his legal advice for a potential third case. He responded that he is not my lawyer and he did not agree to take the case. I sought legal consultation and received an unprofessional response. Occasionally, his emails also lacked professionalism. I Emailed him twice, twice called and left a voicemail message, and submitted an inquiry on his website for potential representation. He failed to respond.
Nick is winner but his interpersonal skills require refinement.

Anyone can write a review or something positive that can be considered an opinion. But I wanted to share some facts of my ongoing divorce/custody battle.
It initially started in 2006. 3 Previously hired attorneys, 2 Gaurdians, Over $60,000 dollars spent that only lead to 11 years of no result. I still believe and am grateful for everyone and their efforts. I was referred to Nick and was scared, questionable and had no faith in the family court laws. He was hired in 2017 and turned many painful trials into a beautiful testimony for my children and I. A 12 year nightmare was finally over. There is no specific number of reviews or dollar amount that I could ever give that would equal what he gave me back.

If you are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, professional, and fair lawyer, Mr. Mermiges is the one for you! Nick was absolutely great during our case! He was always professional and knowledgeable. Nick helped my husband and I to continue to have custody of our nephew, that had been living with us for 4 years, under the de facto custodian law. The de facto custodian law was not something we were familiar with until contacting Nick. He explained it to us and let us know it was possible to continue providing our nephew with a safe and stable environment legally, even though neither of us were a biological parent to the child. Those words were such a relief to my husband and I! Nick was always up-front with us about the different possible outcomes/scenarios and what he expected the outcome would be. He always kept us well informed of things happening with our case and always steered us in the right direction. He never wanted us to be surprised with any outcomes, requests, or fees associated with our case. We knew from our very first conversation with Nick he would do what was right for the child involved and help us to keep our nephew safe. He was always there when we had any questions or concerns. If he wasn't available immediately, he always got back to us in a timely manner and also made himself available for contact over the weekend for any emergent situations. I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer to represent us! If it weren't for Nick and his knowledgeable expertise, our outcome would have been very different! He charged an extremely reasonable flat rate for bundled professional and associated services, which was new to me.
