Spent $2,274 and did not feel like we accomplished anything. When I decided to let them go, they charged me $844 on my next bill. Most of it comprised of the paperwork required to "fire" them.

Mr. Skillern was able to negotiate terms that were very beneficial to me and my family, even though opposing councel drug their feet and were obviously ill prepared to go against a someone like Mr. Skillern and The Skillern Firm. In the end oposing councel just waisted everyone's time and ended up finding out what a REAL law firm and a REAL lawyer is capable of. I contacted Skillern Firm yesterday afternoon with a last-minute list of questions concerning my Divorce Decree (which was issued in another state), visitation order details, and my rights therein. Skillern offered me a $200, no commitment, 1-hour consultation that can be done by phone if you need answers fast. Adrienne, the office manager, was incredibly receptive and helpful in offering me their services when I initially called, and was able to schedule some time for me to speak with the attorney best suited for my case (Tristan due to his expertise on jurisdictional issues) immediately that afternoon. Liz, the office receptionist, was one of the kindest people I've ever spoken to and was also incredibly helpful. I was thinking of getting a divorce, that I really do not want. I met with Matt Skillern, he really put all my questions and fears at rest. Consulting with him, has to be one of the best things I ever did, he is not only professional, he is human. I know a lot of people including myself get anxious when dealing with Attorney's, just let me say whether you need or want a divorce the place to go would be Skillern Law.

Generally using Luis through my divorce was not to my advantage. Throughout the case it felt more like check the box than zealous representation. Sales pitch at the initial consult was entirely different from the real world approach. In the divorce there were several ambiguities in the decree and settlement agreement that ended up costing me. In addition, the case dragged on for some time. It was only after talking with his partner, Mr. Skillern, that things got moving more quickly.

I attempted to have a strategy meeting at one point, only to have a form decree read to me. I ended up with a very standard divorce decree for a premium price. His fees were 4x the fixed fee quotes I received, but I went with Luis expecting premium service.

In the end, he pushed me off as a referral to another lawyer to clean up some of the mess. He actually fell through with that also, and stopped returning calls. There was a procedural issue that could have been solved simply, but he missed it, and cost me some money.

It wasn't an easy case, but his advice was not particularly good. Essentially he told me to follow all the rules, while my ex did whatever she wanted. Then Luis was afraid to enforce my rights for fear of upsetting the judge. This turned out to be a huge problem for me.

Granted he and his paralegal did get the correct forms in on time. More than once I got an email at 3:30 requesting a notarized copy of something by 4:30 the same day.

All in all, would not recommend.

Custody is hard on everyone, but Matt and his team were able to calm my fears and walk me through the process. He is honest & looks at the entire situation, not just the immediate. They were able to work out a modified custody agreement that enabled both of us to spend ton's of time with our child. I cannot thank Matt and his team enough for everything that they have done. I have already and will continue to recommend Midence & Skillern.
