I can't thank my representation enough. I'm currently in a nearly impossible divorce case against a very aggressive person but Susan just takes everything in stride and counters every insane argument with extreme precision. She is a force to be reckoned with and I would never want to oppose her in court!

Walking into Susan's office absolutely terrified of what was to come in court, my husband and I were very pleased to learn that even though our case was a very rare win(severance of rights), which she was very honest about, she would do her best to win because she truly felt that was in the best interest of our child. After 8 months of meeting her, I'm pleased to say that we won our case and are moving on to the adoption process. We are recommending Susan to everyone we know. She's a family person who has morals and values. She is a lawyer second to that and she knows how to fight for what is right. People who are up against her should be scared. I'm so happy she was on my familys side representing us as a whole the entire time. Thank you Susan for all your hard work, in an impossible case, WE won.

Susan worked deligently on my custody case, she not only worked with me financially she put my needs as a disabled parent and my children's needs first. She is a force to reckon with in court. She is confident and knows what she is doing. She is simply the Best! I highly recommend her!

Thank you

As a client of Susan's I want to post a review of my opinion regarding her ability as divorce and family lawyer. I will list her attributes.
1) Tenacity: Once Susan latches on to a case and/or any aspect of the litigation in the case, the fight is on!
2) Reputation: I've read countless reviews of Susan, both before and during my case. One thing I found to be absolutely true, both in the reviews and in the opinion of her legal peers, NOBODY wants to sit across the isle from Susan in court. I even overheard the court translators asking her "go easy on us..." one day (Spanish/English) since she also has a pretty solid capability in Spanish and had corrected them during the hearings on several occasions.
3) Experience: Nothing, absolutely nothing, replaces experience. Over 30 years of experience DO have an effect on the procedures, for a variety of reasons. Very few practicing family law lawyers have this much experience dealing not only with divorce, but with child abuse cases.
4) Memory Retention: I have marveled more than once at her absolute memory capabilities, even correcting court personnel regarding small details contained in the rules of court and law. Yes, even in the best judicial system of the world, people make mistakes, and having someone on your team that helps others do their job better is a GOOD thing, and this is especially true when you are fighting for the lifetime well-being of your minor children.

Conclusion: She isn't cheap, but if you want the best for justice and well-being of your kiddos, then really there is no price limit. I had the opportunity to be in a divorce counseling class that one of the attendees had sat ACROSS from Susan, and he told me that he was shocked at her ability to fight in court. Susan SHINES IN COURT, which by the way, is where it counts the most. No fluff, no fancy, plain-jane nuts and bolts sticking to what REALLY matters in court to get the job done RIGHT! Even though this person lost BIG TIME in his case with Susan against him, he proceeded to recognize her and say "If Susan is on your team, you aren't going to find anyone to defend you better. Congratulations". Enough said!

You can not hire a more effective famliy law lawyer! Super effective, knowledgeable, and professional. After successfully handling our case, we've recommended her several times with her winning each case no matter what problems encountered. NO ONE wants to counter Susan in Tucson. She is THE BEST!

Called on the phone, based on a referral, and had an uneasy feeling after our conversation. I Googled her, and the State Bar of Arizona press release popped-up as the first result. "Light has been reinstated to the active practice of law after serving a 30-day suspension that resulted from misconduct in two separate counts while representing clients during their family law matters and another while handling a contract dispute." I am glad I looked online. Why would anyone risk being represented by someone following these sanctions? Many of the "positive" reviews look suspiciously fake. No profile images, fake names, and so many left after her bar sanctions for misconduct, etc.

She helped my daughter get sole custody of her son.
She is awesome.
The best...she always puts the children first.

If you have any doubts, check with the Pima County Bar, Lawyer's Referral Service. All I did was describe that I had dealt with an attorney who talked a great talk, appeared confident, knowledgeable, excited and dedicated, then took my money and did nothing in court, was not prepared and didn't even bother to call my witnesses to appear. I was told, "It sounds like you had Susan Ames-Light." Enough said.

I was genuinely surprised, I thought I just had a bad experience. She is zealous, articulate, familiar with the law and seems excited to take your case, at first. Once she has your money, good luck. She did not even complete the work she promised. I cut my loses and moved on. I did not find her mean or rude, just unprofessional & ill-prepared. Highly disappointing. I would only ever recommend Susan to my Ex.

I have known her for 15 years and she is an outstanding advocate to families.... she shines in court and has rescued many children. I would suspect that those who have lost against her wish they would have had her represent them in court too.

Stay away from this lawyer, she may have a lot of experience but she will take your money and do nothing for you. She has many complaints against her and still don't know how she remains in business. Use your hard earned money on someone else....

I am baffled at how Susan Ames-Light is still employed and keeps getting hired by people!!! She is unethical, immoral, vindictive and outright unjust! Attention to all! Heed my warning! Not only do clients complain about her, but I have several clerks and attorney friends with Pima County Superior Court who cringe at her name and often suggest other attorneys to work with because of the way she is!! She will cost you a pretty penny and you'll receive nothing but grief in the process. EVERYONE- Do yourself a favor, DO NOT HIRE HER!

Poor representation. I hired Ms. Light for a simple legal separation. She did a careless and rushed job which led to legal problems later on. Also I would need to call often to get any response. Run to a different attorney.
