When I found myself charged with pre-meditated attempted first degree murder and facing life imprisonment, I had to find the best lawyer in Palm Beach County, so I went to Meltzer and Bell, P.A. and hired David Goudreau to save my freedom. Originally I was held in jail without bond, Mr. Goudreau was able to obtain house arrest for me without a hearing. Without waiving speedy trial, and after intensive investigation, research, and negotiations, Mr. Goudreau obtained a result which in my best interest gave me immediate release, and most importantly, an end to my case: a plea to a third degree felony, TIME SERVED, and NO PROBATION!

This could only have happened because everyone at Meltzer and Bell, P.A., ensured that no stone was left unturned in obtaining all the public records, evidence, and facts which led to this result. I have had previous attorneys, but, none of them exercised all of my constitutional rights, and without waiving speedy trial. Instead of them postponing my case, they went out and fought for me. I recently had to deal with a legal issue and being new to Florida, I was on my own to find and identify the best attorney for the situation. I had caught a case in 2017 and found Meltzer and Bell through google. They seemed to be affordable being that they said they would do payment plans. So I went in to meet the lawyer. I was introduced to Steven Bell. I discussed my case and found a solid trust and hired him. My retainer was 15 grand. About two weeks later he calls me in and introduces me to an associate and says he is busy with another case but to trust this attorney Matt Shafran. Being I couldn’t get my retainer back at this point I had to go with it. The details of my case was self defense with a gun involved. I was pushed numerous times to take a plea. I wasn’t guilty so I turned down all offers. Matt Shafran is a deal maker: not a trial lawyer. I found this out after the bait switch of attorneys when I went to trial. He told me to get on the stand and sound uneducated because the jury would understand me better. I realized after I lost trial it was all a setup. I had a vindictive ex wife whom was probably most likely in his pocket. Matt Shafran was a horrible trial attorney. In the end I recommend not doing with this firm because they will feed you everything you want to hear and then put you off on some new associate and only strive to work deals. The judicial system is corrupt and these guys are only in it for the dollar not the justice. Very disappointed. I’m out now and starting my new chapter in life. Smoke and Mirrors is what the firm should be called. Good luck in your search and hope you come out on top. $20,000 I still lost trial and did time. And had everything going for me before hiring this firm. Best of luck.

I can't recommend Steven Bell highly enough. I recently went through an unfortunate incident--I had a sleepwalking episode, and, long story short, ended up being arrested and charged with domestic battery. Being my first time ever in any sort of legal trouble, I had no clue what to do. After calling around to a bunch of law firms and leaving messages, I called Meltzer and Bell and was immediately put through to Mr. Bell. Even though it was late in the day (after 3 pm), he offered an in-person consult that day. After talking with him, I immediately hired him--he put me at ease, explained the process, and guided me through what was (to me) a foreign legal world. Over the next two months, he was always responsive to emails, calls, and was patient as he helped me navigate a very scary period. As a bonus, his office is very close to the courthouse and he even offered to let me park there for free when I had to appear in at court.

My experience with Meltzer and Bell was nothing short of superlative. I was charged with DUI and 3 counts of felony narcotics possession. Miraculously, and due in no short part to Steven’s charisma, dedication, and congenial relationship with the prosecutor, all felony charges were dropped, pleaded down to a misdemeanor and I escaped a possibly lengthy jail sentence with only 12 months probation. Got my case dismissed for a good price

I don’t usually write reviews, I have used this firm once in the past, and everything was okay, this time around i used them, and they got my ticket lowered and needed to submit my certification for a class, i contacted them the last day to submit it and they weren’t really helpful. The paralegal told me to just call the clerk’s office and couldn’t assist me nor did they offer to efile my document. I called the clerk that day Friday and they were already closed, today Monday 3 days late i called the clerk again i had to pay and fee and find out that the document could of just been easily been submitted to the clerk via the county’s website and now i had to pay a late fee. I feel like the paralegal didn’t care enough to guide me through it so that i didn’t submit it late nor did she have this important information for their client as to how to submit the certificates

This firm is a perfect example of the saying "you get what you pay for." They are not cheap but are worth every penny. I had a family member that was Baker Acted. On a side note, I'm not referring to my family member's gender to respect that persons privacy. Long story short, I believe the mental health hospital was trying to hold this individual longer then necessary to milk their health insurance(this person had extremely good insurance). This would have been fine if the mental health facility was a good one. Instead, I got calls from this person begging me to try to get them out early because the individual felt that their mental health was actually getting worse from the horrendous conditions of the facility.

After doing some research I called this firm. I personally spoke to Mr. Bell. I do a lot of on spot evaluation of professionals from various fields so I have gotten quite good at ascertaining the ones that are at the top of their field. Mr. Bell gave me that impression. He gave me quite a bit of objective advice on my family members options. He mentioned everything his firm could do for the person and the likelihood of an early release. However, what really illustrates how ethical and professional this firm is the fact he even gave me reasons why I SHOULD NOT hire his firm or wait to hire them. Any firm that will give me reasons to not give them money shows a level of ethics that's rarely seen in business. Meaning, if the firm is this ethical in not taking your money; you can rest assured that once you do pay them you are going to get great representation.

I ended up not needing their services. I did some extensive research on my own and I was able to dig up enough factual state and federal law violations the facility engaged when they treated my family member. So they ended up agreeing to release the person early. However, based on my initial conversation I would not have hesitated to hire Mr. Bell's firm. In fact, I have decided to save their number in case I ever have need of their services. It was the simple things that were impressive. Every time I needed to speak with Mr. Bell and Mr. Shafran, or get important information from Ms. Murphy and Ms. Rodriguez, they answered the phone every time or immediately returned emails and text messages, even if in the middle of meetings and telling me they'd get right back with me, they always did as they said they would. Or being first in line when the courthouse doors opened for my hearing in order to get me on top of the judge's docket for the day so I wasn't inconvenienced at being at court all morning into the afternoon. I hope for anyone that needs representation that they at least take a few minutes to speak with Mr. Bell and his firm prior to making a contractual obligation to another law firm. After being charged with multiple felony drug offenses (one month apart from each other) I received a call from the public defenders office alerting me that the state was trying to revoke my bond. I told them exactly what happened , instead of defending me they just put in a plea of NO CONTEST. The ticket was for 300$ and literally what I said made perfect sense but they still didn't even try to defend me . I paid them 75$ and now I have to pay court fees of 281$ so now I basically invested in paying 356$ . I wouldn't recommend , find someone who will defend you and an attorney willing to listen and fight for you , I'll never use them again.
