For your DWI, I would recommend hiring anyone else. Steve didn't really do much for the $2500 I paid him, other than get the court date pushed back a couple times. He settled for the "standard deal that they give everybody". I didn't really need an attorney to get me the "standard deal". I could've done that on my own and probably actually negotiated a better deal. Lastly, and this is the real kicker...the prosecutor wanted me to have an ignition interlock installed on my vehicle. Fine, I get it. However, Steve Schanker, MY attorney, that I paid $2500 up front, added a condition for me to have a camera installed along with the interlock device!!! His exact words were, "This judge usually likes to see a camera, so we'll go ahead and put it on there". Unbelievable!!! I didn't think much of it at the time because I didn't really know what it was going to mean for me. Now I have a giant camera attached to my windshield and it costs me an additional $32/month. How about next time, Steve, you let the Judge actually make that decision instead of throwing your clients under the bus.

Steve is really good at his profession. He has really good experience. He answers all of the questions regardless how many times you ask regarding your case. He replies promptly. He really helped me to extend my court date for 4-5 months while I was out of country that was really helpful. You don't really have to personally see him for all of your concerns. I personally prefer e-mail communication. He can set up a good final deal with the judge and in the court which he did for me. He gave me really good bargain deal. Well, It was really bad life changing incident happen to me for the first time and I had to go out of country and later I had to move out of state. But he acknowledged me that I can finish up whatever is required out of state as well. And in the future if I have any questions or concerns he is willing to answer questions. I would highly recommend him.
