Ms. Garcia is the worst attorney I have ever encountered in Bakersfield and I was extremely disappointed having retained Ms. Garcia as counsel in my family law proceedings. During my initial consultation, her office staff as well as Ms. Garcia herself seemed professional and she said all of the right things in order to get my retainer. I felt confident in the beginning but after receiving my retainer, everything went downhill fast. Rarely does her office return any calls or emails with imperative and important questions needing answers pertaining to your case. She disregards information given to her involving your case and at one point went so far as to tell me that she had everything she needed to win my case while I was having to go to court to keep custody of my son the same as it had been for six years. It was seventy/thirty custody with no child support ever requested on my behalf however due to me wanting to better myself and my sons life, I took a new position for a firm that required me to work fifteen more hours a week and my ex was claiming that because of my new schedule, my additional absence due to me working more hours to support my son on my own would affect my son tremendously and that my son would be better suited in his dads care who in addition had a history of arrests for paraphernalia. My ex claimed he was better suited to have custody of my seventy percent of the time and in addition to this custody battle, my ex was requesting child support from me should he be granted this additional custody and as sad as it is, this entire custody nightmare stemmed from money. It was any mother’s worst nightmare!!! Not having asked around from others experiences and recommendations in regards to good attorneys here in Bakersfield, that was my biggest mistake and my only regret right there. After the fact of my ex hiring an attorney who unbeknown to me at the time, was known to fight and go to any extent to win. It was until after the fact that Ms. Garcia lost my custody case due to simply having no clue what she was doing in the courtroom and being completely disoriented during our hearing that I was left distraught and having no choice to ask around what others felt are some of the best attorneys in town. Not only was I told by numerous people about one specific attorney whose last name starts with an H. about how great and experienced he was. I was also informed by others who had retained Ms. Garcia in the past about their experiences which were very similar to mine or had been told by someone close to them about similar outcomes and embarrassment having retained Ms. Garcia. Do your research before hiring any attorney as family law is a very stressful time for anyone and you definitely want an attorney with you that day who knows what they are doing and who is attentive to your case. Who listens to you and who fights for what’s in the best interest of your child rather than solely taking your money and doing absolutely nothing for you. If you decide to sit down for a consult with Ms. Garcia, the best advice I can give you is this. Everything might seem fine in the beginning but after you have given your retainer, do not be surprised if nothing is done for your case and you get no results or even worse, you lose your case that should have never been lost like mine leaving you to have to pay an additional retainer with new counsel and now being out an additional five thousand dollars. Ask around about others experiences who have already dealt with Ms. Garcia because from what I gathered from others having retained Ms. Garcia in the past is that this is not uncommon with her and it was very sad and frustrating having found out these horror stories after the fact. This is a very stressful time so take the time to do your research first to ensure that you have the best possible counsel walking in to the court room with you and ensuring that your child’s best interest is in good hands. Horrible!! Worst attorney ever! Do your research on attorneys in town before you hire anyone to represent you during one of the most stressful times in your life and do not make the same mistake I did by hiring Ms. Garcia. Be prepared to spend way more money than you would with any other attorney in town because she continues your case time and time again leading to more stress during an already stressful time and leaving you to spend more money because you are billed by the hour. Ask around about attorneys to use to those who have been through family law before and hire an attorney who will fight for you and get your case done and settled in a reasonable amount of time and who will represent you and do for you what’s in the best interest of you and your child or children.
