I have had the pleasure of dealing with Mr. Joey Turner. I have spent a lot of time talking and working through our case with him. There have been a lot of twists and turns and he has been there through each of them. He has been a voice of reason and knowledge with every curve ball we have been thrown. We have multiple avenues of communication with him and each question or concern has been addressed. Our case has not been an easy one by any stretch of the imagination and is still ongoing. His willingness to help his clients is something you do not see every day anymore. He is only a phone call, text, or email away when he is needed. Joey turner has been my lawyer on several cases for many years and always made sure I was well taken care of, I wouldn't recommend anyone else. Hes very reliable and easy to get ahold of, if you need a trustworthy great lawyer hes the man.

Do not hire Joey Turner. He takes your money and does nothing to help with your case. I paid him and he promised my son would be home in 2-6 months. Well two years later he still has my retainer and will not refund me. I fired him after I emailed him and asked the status on my son's case. He said he was waiting to hear from the parole board. Little did he know I contacted the parole board. Joey never inquired about my son. Little did Joey know, I emailed him once a week for a month asking about my son's status. He either did not reply or when he did it was the same story. I had my son home with help from the prison for two months while Joey was saying he was still waiting to meet with my son at prison and to meet with parole officers for a hearing. Don't waste your time or money on him. I have reported him to the Bar association. They are helping me get my case together against Joey Turner to get all my money refunded from him. Sorry liar good luck getting a hold of him if you have already hired him.

Me and my father have been dealing with this man for 2 whole years ago and he hasn’t done anything for us ,we had to bring in another lawyer just to help us out . Well mr turner is a lawyer so yea its hard to get in touch with him alot. There were times where he didnt return my call or he was in another court room while my case was going on in another court room and we would have a continuous court date and get passed.but when he did get time to address my case in a trial setting up against judge penny freesman he did a great job.i had felony weapon charge hanging over my head and with the evidence i provided mr turner with he showed the prosecutors and the judge that the charges were because of a scorned relationship and now i can say i dont have a felony conviction on my record i can legally posses and purchase firearms because of mr turner and im thankful and grateful everything worked out in my favor mr turner provided me a great service and i would recomend him and his services to others as well.

after you pay the money, he just ghosts on you. good luck getting in touch with him after the court. i needed a paper from him that he sincerely said "would e-mail after e-mailed him, but nothing!!!"

Joey Turner did a few things after I paid him $2000.00 to handle my case. Ingore many,many calls and emails I made and sent to him .Lie to me over and over about what he has done to resolve things. Lie,Lie and to this day after I contacted the bar about this matter he still does nothing but lie about things. The few times I did talk to this so called lawyer, I would hear "MAYBE NEXT WEEK" but his next week for something to be resolved has never came. Im disgusted how ive been cheated by J.Turner and I hope that he gets his license to practice law snatched and never gets the chance to lie and cheat people out of their money.

Would NEVER return a call or email....EVER!! Didn't show up for court or would reschedule without telling anybody. We found out later he did NO work on my husbands case or filed anything at all with the clerk of courts. Never did what he said he was going to do. Made us feel like he had good news for us and never followed through on anything. Had to pay fines for things he said he handled. Horrible!! Would not recommend at all.

Very poor communication skills never returns your phone call or messages hasn't done anything that he has promised us I talked to the sheriff where my wife is being held from what he said all Mr turner has to do is set a date for a bond hearing to get my wife out its going on 7 months now and still nothing has been done after he promised me a two week turn around I been calling leaving messages for the last two months still hasn't heard from Mr turner I recommend him to a friend who hired him right after I did and he did take care of his case but still hasn't taken care of ours I will not recommend this attorney if you have a criminal case

I am completely blown away. My daughter was contacted by Mr. Turner when her boyfriend got in what we believed would be a "definite" time serving situation. Joey was absolutely a pleasing to my fiancé. We are from South Carolina but my fiancé was hit with charges in Savannah. I called so many attorneys none which were affordable and then I prayed about it and within a few hours I received a message from Joey saying he could help which was an understatement. My fiancé was tagged with 2 felonies and misdemeanors and the felonies were looking at some time and he would be away from us. Today Joey got all charges reduced even the felonies to misdemeanors and my fiancé will be home shortly. My case was resolved as he said it would be. Charges got dropped and just ended up paying a fine. Joey Turner was informative and helped me get the case resolved, but I gave 3 stars because of lack of communication. It was very hard to get a hold of him even sending emails, and texts and calls for weeks on end. Also not knowing when I need to be in court until the day before or a few days before the day (I live 4 hours away and court always starts at 9) the communication could have been better but overall, he got my case resolved and it’s behind me so I will say there were PROS and CONS, retainer fee was 2K which is average for a good lawyer and like I said, I am HAPPY and satisfied with the outcome!

I am a so called client of this man I have paid him my money and thats basically it I don't get a call back he's always busy my case was promised to be resolved in no more than 90 day and yet I can't even talk to the man that took my money honestly if you have money to just waste go ahead and give it to him he will gladly take it I find it unfair I am a United States Marine and I serve my country proudly and for a man to do what he is doing is just not right I'm sure he will call when he sees this cause he cares about his reviews but when he calls there will be no update just him telling me he's sorry about the communication issue even Tho I call twice a day and leave a message with his friendly staff and that he's still waiting on a call that he somehow hasn't gotten in over two months now I feel like if he couldn't help me then he shouldn't have taken my money but in the end that's what it's all about with this nice guy

I hired Joey on March 22,2019! He was supposed to remove a block off my license and he charged me 1000 dollars, paid in full and it’s May 7th today and I haven’t heard from him. I tried calling him daily, but his secretary is trained to say he’s in court every time I call. You don’t have that many clients to be in court everyday. I work hard for my money and I be darn if I just give you my money. DO NOT HIRE JOEY TURNER. He will answer your call to take a payment but after that, you can forget about hearing from him.

Update 01/27/20 still haven’t heard from him. It’s not right and he denied returning my money after my bank tried numerous attempts. It’s ok tho!!

Dont waste time or money on this person! Impossible to get ahold of (sometimes taking a month or more to respond to voicemails/emails) and was late to every court hearing I had. He has an out of state answering service that is trained to tell you he is in court and will forward your message, but he wont get back to you.

My family had hired Mr.Joey Turner he has reasonable fees. Yes he is hard to reach at times but he is a busy hard working lawyer and he has responded to my emails in a timely manner and has showed up to court as expected. He is very understanding and knows what he is talking about. He was able to get the case solved that's a big plus for our family. so I recommend him to anyone.

Update As of 11/10/2019... we still have not received our refund for the retainer. He actually called the day after he was emailed and certified mailed a client termination letter and only on that day did he see the client but was already terminated at that time, which he knew prior to going to visit. It took over 10 days to speak with his client after numerous calls , texts and emails by the way he only did after the client attorney relationship was terminated. He only filed a generic bond motion, which he never discussed with his client at the time. The retainer was requested and we are still waiting for the refund.

He was hired to simply get a plea and he took a$1000 retainer never once visited his client only put in an order of appearance and a bond order that was never asked for and went MIA......never answers calls only has a service that gives general replies.....He lies tells clients and families he is doing one thing and completely goes missing and doesnt answer phone calls ...Do not hire , not recommended.

My experience was by far the worst my first time paying for a lawyer and I’m in a predicament where I could be facing jail time he received my retainer and I haven’t heard from him since I’ve gone to the bbb and the court house and also the bar association about me turner and they all cringe and shake their head when I say his name I repeat do not pay this lawyer!!!!!!!

I could have made out better representing myself or even just going with a public defender! I literally paid Joey to just stand there in court. He has an answering service (multiple people) and they always say that he is in court. I have sent him text messages, e-mailed him, called him and it would take literally weeks to hear back from him, if at all. I received probation as part of my punishment, but Joey assured me that he could work to get me off in 6 months if I completed everything that was expected of me and paid my fines off. Well here I am, 9 months in and still on probation. I have e-mails and text messages where he would tell me one thing and when I did finally speak to him on the phone, he would say something completely different! If you want to literally throw away your money, receive no help, be stressed and spend time chasing somebody around, then he is your man. If I could have not rated him at all to post this review, then he would not have even received 1 star! I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND HIM! EVER!

Met me in my home in ten minutes time, which is awesome because I have a hellish schedule, and gave a fair, firm price to handle any and all court appearances, which turned out to be the only appearance needed, never even had to go to court. Do not, I repeat, do not hire this attorney. I was unfortunate enough to get into some serious legal trouble over a year ago, hired this man and will regret it for the rest of my life. We paid him over 9k in total and received nothing but mediocre legal advice, subpar representation, and a COMPLETE lack of any professional respect for me as a client. He put forth absolutely no effort to help resolve my case in a timely manner, ignored my repeated requests for a bond hearing and in fact urged me to take a plea deal of 90 days in a probation detention camp in addition to pleading guilty to a felony regardless of the facts of the case. He never requested the discovery from the DA and that was after 8 months of these charges pending against me. Had he requested the discovery he would have known the state’s case against me was completely circumstantial and lacking ANY hard evidence whatsoever. Not only is he notorious for his refusal to return calls, text messages, voice messages and emails but he was at least an hour and sometime 2 hours late to nearly every court appearance I had, of which there were over 7. At one point an Effingham County judge disparaged him in open court for his consistently late appearances and often flat out refusal to even show up regardless of the amount of time his clients were scheduled on the docket. He talks a great game upon his initial consultation but once you’ve paid him in full he becomes an elusiveness leprechaun your desperate to get in touch with during the worst time of your life and when you finally catch him he smiles and pretends he was there all along. We ended up firing him without even requesting a refund and found a new attorney who took his job and me as his client seriously. BEWARE Joey Turner was the biggest nightmare of all. Don’t be fooled by the four stars you see, do your homework and read the reviews, you will see a clear pattern of behavior listed by Joey’s real clients.

I retained Mr. Turner as an attorney when my husband was arrested for a probation violation. There is no bond for that charge so you can imagine my frustration when trying to get my husband out of jail. Within a week's span not only was Mr. Turner able to get him released on his own recognizance but get his probation terminated altogether! He always called me back if he missed my call or if he couldn't make it to give me a call back he was able to return my email within the same day. Retained in concert with my sister in law to represent my brother. Initial retainer quote was 5k, which swelled to 6.5k in one week.

The only thing this “lawyer” did was enter an order of appearance. He alleged he filed a motion for a bond hearing, he didn’t. No such filing exists. My brother sat in jail til the state failed to deliver an indictment within 90 days. He knew under the law my brother would be afforded bond in 90 days and so he pretended to work the case after collecting money from both me and my sister in law for his retainer.

Obviously my sister in law struggled with finances with her husband in jail. Mr. Turner was instructed to contact me if a monthly payment was missed, at which time I might step in the make the payment. Apparently payments were missed and I was never contacted. Mr. Turners excuse for not working the case was a “lack of payment” that could have been resolved with a phone call.

Mr. Turner, one month after my brothers release on bond, tried to convince him to take a plea deal after charging a trial level retainer. How an attorney goes from ready for trial to advising a plea agreement is beyond me. Further, Mr Turner alleged he had information regarding the other party to the case; it turns out this was impossible because MR TURNER NEVER FILED FOR DISCOVERY. Way to drop the ball Turner.

Mr. Turner fails to return calls and emails and does not keep abreast of events in his clients cases.

An indictment was handed down in October. Mr. Turner didn’t inform my brother that he had indeed been indicted, did not afford him notice of required court appearances and thus, my brother was handed a bench warrant for failure to appear. His attorney dropped the ball. If Mr. Turner had informed myself or my brother of the indictment, surrender would have been arranged and my brother could have stayed out on bond pending trial. Instead, due to Mr. Turners multiple failings, my brother was rearrested MONTHS later - a complete surprise - in front of his children. Further, he is now being denied bond, having been labeled a flight risk for failure to appear on a hearing he had NO NOTICE OF.

In brief, we paid a couple thousand dollars for an entry of appearance (approximately .5 billable hours) and one jail visit (approximately 1 billable hour if you’re feeling generous). This attorney ceased ALL communication within 60 days of receiving the initial payment and having not even worked enough billable hours to consume that payment. I have multiple emails and attempted phone calls with no response. Attorney does not send a monthly statement of billable hours.

He didn’t even file a withdrawal of appearance; the new attorney was forced to file a substitution of counsel. So after intentionally dropping the ball, he kept himself as the attorney of record for my brother while doing nothing with his case.

Client dumping is an ethics violation and if my money is not refunded, formal complaints with the State Bar as well as the ethics board will be forthcoming.

Joey NEVER returns any phone calls. His office staff is trained to tell you he is court. When he does call you he lies about every thing! Joey Turner does not even deserve one star! He is a horrible attorney!

I have had Mr.Turner as my lawyer since July of 2017. For the first 3-4 months we had a rocky start with communication but Mr. Turner was able to see where there was an issue & corrected it, from then on we have been able to communicate & be on the same page for every court date & Mr.Turner has even helped in some of my legal issues that I didn’t hire him for. I didn’t get to experience much of the in-court expertise of Mr. Turner because most of my charges were dismissed due to the officer not coming to court to be a witness, but Mr. Turner had a full defense prepared that I trusted in to save me from a conviction if the officer did come. Mr Turner provided the results of a high caliber attorney such as Johnny Cocharon with O.J. Mr Turner took a seemingly losing situation and turned it around for the best possible outcome. As for the reviews stating that Mr. Turner not being readily available, I would rather have an attorney that is constantly in the face of the judge and the DA trying to make things happen rather than always on the phone with me telling me there are no changes. His methodology maybe unorthodox but his results are unquestionable. Mr. Turner is worth every penny and I would gladly have paid him more after the court decision if he asked for it.
