I had a Very bad experience with Julio. November of 2018 I went to Jail and Had an Ice Hold. My family reached out to Julio as he had been me and my brothers lawyer for several years helping us renew our Daca’s. Julio suggested that We pay $900 to submit an application to renew my Daca even though I was in jail and he KNEW it’d be very difficult for me to send my biometrics while in detention. So as stated I served my jail time which was 20 days and got sent to an immigration facility even though Julio was SO SURE I would be let out at the county jail, idk why he thought that but according to what he told my family that’s “what he thought”. Then while i was at Robert Dayton detention center, Julio charged an extra $1250 to handle my bond hearing and it’s not a high price considering other lawyers were charging much more but such a low price also came w negative results. I’ll be clear, Julio told my wife that my bond depended a lot on the judge due to my past convictions and he was correct but the headaches came when it wasn’t easy to contact and he even had a problem w my wife showing up to his office even though it took him days to respond to emails, anyone dealing w removal proceedings knows being able to speak to the Lawyer in due time is very important. But no, Julio never answered his phone or always had his assistant take messages for him even if he was at the office. After that he also informed us that he “may or may not” be present for my first court date and bond hearing due to him going on vacation for the holidays. The vacation is nothing that bothered me everyone deserves vacations I understand but if he knew we were depending on him to be there he could’ve at least told us that before we hired him. So my bond hearing came and Julio did not show up but Instead sent a lady who’s name I may have wrong but i think it was “Machika” and well basically all she did was show up. I hardly remember her saying anything besides me being in the Daca process and then she tried making another reference but judge Kassidy shut her down right away because she was reciting a law incorrectly If I’m not mistaken. She basically just did Julio the favor of showing up to “represent” me. If I knew that was going to Be the case I would’ve hired another lawyer or represented myself because when We hired him we hired him to fight for my bond not to send somebody in his place who only went to get humiliated by the judge due to her lack of knowledge. My case may not have been the easiest and I understand that but as a professional I expected more from him rather than him taking our money and treating my case the way he did. Now 21 years later I’m back in Mexico away from all my family and most importantly my 2 yr old son, yet I’m making the best out of it after wasting money and time on a lawyer who didn’t treat my case as he should have, writing this hoping that it doesn’t happen to anyone else. Other than this experience Julio was reliable when it came to me applying and renewing my Daca in the past before it expired, so he’s not just a terrible lawyer but he did handle my last case terribly imo.
