Clearly there is nothing fun about needing a lawyer and paying for one. DeShon and her office are top notch and get things done correctly, as well as quickly and in an attentive manner. Amy worked with me on my matter and made my drivel be sound and professionally presented. She clearly knows how to operate in the world of the family courts. Major fail of epic proportions in my brother's custody case.

I hired this law firm in 2012 to represent me in a child custody case; the other party (mother) had obtained an Order of Protection, unbeknownst to me, which evicted me from my home and prohibited me from having contact with my 2 yr old daughter. I was a stay at home father for all 24 months of my daughter's life, so needless to say, I was devastated. I requested a hearing to quash the order, but Deshon Pullen and Associates told me the hearing would be vacated because they settled with the opposing counsel to remove the child from the Order of Protection. The court cited that I failed to appear and denied our stipulated agreement without any explanation from Deshon Pullen and Associates.
This firm did represent me at our temporary orders hearing, and our family court judge did remove my daughter from the order and award me joint custody and exclusive use of the marital residence...after not having ANY contact with my daughter for 3.5 months and after a Notice of Trustee Sale was filed to foreclose my home that I hadn't occupied for 3.5 months. They withdrew from my case after our temporary orders hearing, informed me that I exhausted my $10,000 retainer, and then mailed me a bill for an additional $2,000.
My daughter is now 8 yrs old, and she's with me most of the time, but when I think about my experience with this firm and my losses, I get nauseous.

Run AWAY!!!! Horrible law firm. Hired them for my wife because she felt good about the attorney she talked with. Not the one she ended up getting. Way overpriced. Had to be reminded to do their job. Still did not do it correctly. Even after they now have been fired still have not returned the retainer. Paperwork has been filed and approved they are still trying to drain the retainer when they are not even approved to work for my wife. Low life's, have met used car salesman with more ethics then these people. Do yourself a favor talk to many lawyers. Was able to find one a third the price that actually cares and ready to put in the work.

Legal matters, especially those that involve court can be scary. If you are like me, you can feel hopeless, helpless and anxious that justice will be served.

Three years ago I was in a desperate need of a good lawyer to represent my case for a child custody situation between me and my ex wife. Money was not a problem as long as I was in good hands. With that being said, I knew that DeShon’s office is among the top firms when it comes to family law. If you’re in the search of an average, law firm that you will get away with the minimum cost this is not your law firm. Still though, and I have plenty of customers because of my business that are lawyers so I have an idea of how expensive family law situations can be, DeShon’s firm is VERY approachable. My case was a difficult one since I had one good reason to lose custody of my daughter. I stormed in DeShon’s office and sat down in the meeting table. The paralegal lady greeted me and told me to relax and that everything will be under control soon. It was important for me at that hard moment in my life to hear that everything will be under control because I was losing the most valuable thing I have, my daughter. After the comforting lady left one of DeShon’s partners came in to talk to me about my situation. After she calmed me down we went to the bottom line of things which would be who I want to be represented by. I chose DeShon to take my case since I was referred to by a good mutual friend. A day after I met with DeShon. My DeShon Laraye Pullen team was astute, technically and legally savvy and compassionate with/toward women who do not have a voice, don't know their financial worth in a marriage and may have an overabundance of complexities in their individual situations. The customer service at DeShon Laraye Pullen is terrible. They constantly make errors in the paperwork and then turn around and bill more to correct them. Ridiculous! I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you want a quality firm to represent you.

Save yourself the headaches and find a different lawyer - Absolutely the worst experience. Ended up firing the firm and going with another lawyer who didn't want to throw them under the bus but basically said we were given a lot of bad advice. It took weeks to get anything done and everytime I emailed to find out what was going on they would bill me for their reply. After waiting 4 weeks for a letter to be drafted responding to the other lawyers requests, it was absoloutely incorrect as if they never looked at any of my paper work even though the opposing lawyer had all my info correct. Didn't show up for a scheduled meeting because "something more important came up" but they didn't bother to call and reschedule because obviously only their time is important. Once we terminated their services, it took two months and 21 phone calls to get my retainer refunded. Although I was told 12 times they would "call me" regarding getting my money back, not one phone call was ever returned. I felt like a bill collector trying to get my refund. Wish I could have given a zero.

I had a terrible experience recently with DeShon Pullen. During the most stressful period of my life, I went in for a free consultation regarding a divorce. I received incorrect advice that I had only 20 days to respond to my divorce papers which was false. I was told by another firm, Cavanagh that there was no clock ticking because they had only been filed and not legally served. I felt pressured to sign a contract and paid the $2500 retainer fee. While I was signing the contract I mentioned that maybe I should be reading this and my attorney, Jennifer stated, "we will give you copies to take home and read". My own attorney did not advise me to read this before I signed even though I expressed my concerns. I called 24 hours later and said I had acted too hastely and wanted more time to think it over. My lawyer stated she had drafted a letter to my husband and did I want to review it, at least, by email. She did not say she would charge me for this which she did. The letter had several misspellings which looked very unprofessional. So I said I did not wish to continue and she offered me a less expensive counsel where she would review paperwork but not accompany me to court. Jennifer never once let me out of the contract on the spot and instead said Jessica would call me to discuss my options. After several phone calls to Jessica who was always out or unavailable and many messages left, Jessica never ever returned my calls. After almost 2 weeks I called and by chance Jessica answered the phone and said she was busy moving and would get back to me. A day or so later I received an email stating it would take 60 days to resolve getting my fees together to make the appropriate credit to my $2500 retainer fee. After an email to DeShon I received a bill for over $500 (1/5 of my retainer fee) for basically draftings a letter with misspellings. I feel like I've been put through the ringer by a law firm who was suppose to represent me in a fair manner. I would gladly pay a reasonable fee but this is totally unfair. Please beware of DeShon Pullen Law Firm. They treated me without respect and gave me more stress in an already vulunerable stage of my life. They have been unresponsive to my pleas to get this resolved in a reasonable and fair manner. I regret ever having walked through their doors.
