A year ago, as I made my monthly visit to my probation officer, I was arrested on charges a detective filed over a year after they had occurred. Up to this point, I had navigated the justice system myself, but now I needed to find a knowledgeable attorney for these new charges, as they were serious and I was already on probation. I had finally turned my life around, working two jobs and mentoring recovering addicts when i was taken down to county on these charges. I called my mother with my free phone call and she contacted and hired Robert J. Campos. Campos was so dedicated, he showed up at my arraignment, which is the first time you see the judge after an arrest. I was the only defendant, out of at least thirty, that had an attorney actually show up at this stage of the proceedings. He fought hard to get me a bond my family could afford so I would not lose my jobs and would have a chance to fight these charges outside a jail cell. Campos attended every other court date I had after my release. My first plea offer was in the ballpark of 8-16 years prison time. Campos fiercely negotiated with prosecutors and made strong arguments to the judge. Ultimately, I ended up signing a plea for 6 months jail time with work release so I did not have to throw away the life I had fought so hard to start building up after my first arrest. My Son was facing 20 years from the Gila County Attorney Bradley Beauchamp for Burglary of $300 worth of merchandise. My Son being Half Native-American and Half-Hispanic. it was a given that Beauchamp was going to lock him up and throw the key away. We hired Mr. Campos to prove his innocence. During the trial, Mr. Campos Proved, both police offers lied on the stand after giving prior deposition to Mr. Campos. The Police officers also stated they met with prosecutors and changed their stories. Mr. Campos did his due diligence in proving my Son's innocence.
This whole nightmare Beauchamp created, that my Son is a threat to the community was destroyed by Mr. Campos and proved Bradley Beauchamp is a threat to the community destroying young minorities lives and increasing the recidivism rate for these young adults keeping the community in harms way.
