Although my case took over 18 months to resolve of no fault of the attorney assigned to it, it was a matter of confusion with the correct insurer and my attorney took the time to look thru and finally settle the issue. My only regret was that I couldn't litigate against the insurer for my time and overly excessive delays in coming to a compromise.
Overall I recommend Cohen Law Group for their fine work.

Two weeks ago I contacted the Cohen Law Firm to take on a possible claim dealing with employment. Shortly thereafter on June 20th, 2019 I contacted the firm and ended up speaking to customer representative named Kareme Shaia. Originally, there was a rep by the name of Eric who was supposed to gather information from me however, he was absent that day. Right off the bat as I am explaining my story while being a little nervous (explaining that to her), Kareme Shaia was not only very nonchalant but also unsympathetic, cold, and very rude. There was even a point during our conversation where she became uncomfortably quiet on the phone and replied with: “yeah...ok, making me feel unimportant and embarrassed. Somewhere towards the end of the conversation, as she is reviewing the information (she did not get right) she told me very blatantly my claim was “LOUSY” along with other insensitive comments. I was in disbelief. When I asked what did she say because I refused to believe she was so callous, she replied with: “um, I don’t know…I possibly could have said that…yeah.” If there was at any point Kareme thought my case wasn’t a substantial claim and the firm was unable to help me, I could have accepted that. Everyone can’t help me. HOWEVER, when you go out your way to be unequivocally disrespectful, callous, and lacking proper customer service skills to efficiently do a simple task in gathering information for an attorney, I will not stand for it. After that our conversation ended and I asked to speak to someone about my experience and spoke to someone by the name of Erica. When I spoke to Erica, she seemed to be very apologetic and told me that she would be reprimanding Kareme Shaia. She also asked for my contact information and name so that a lawyer could get in contact with me. Yet, a week goes by and I received no call. So, today July 1st, 2019 I called the firm. I was then transferred to Erica yet again. She unprofessionally picks up the phone and just starts talking to me like I was supposed to know who she was. To add, her tune was different. Instead of her transferring me to an attorney as promised, she starts to back pedal and say the letter I received from Kareme Shaia after ending our conversations was what she told me, and that the firm now doesn’t deal with all employment (although being able to handle my kind on website). She then says she DOESN’T know all of what they firm takes on and that she is just someone who WORKS IN ACCOUNTING! Firstly, why would you entertain a call you had no power to handle and secondly, why would you claim to be when I originally called you to be someone of importance and not be? This was the worst law firm experience I have ever encountered and can only imagine the number of people who went through this and who were quieted to not say anything! I honestly believe they gave me the run around thinking that I was going to leave quietly and so that the firm would not look bad or have someone who actually reprimand Kareme and rectify the situation. WELL I’M NOT. I WILL BE CALLING THE BBB AND I WILL BE USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE OF THIS HORRIBLE FIRM!

As a victim of Hurricane Michael, I was hopeful to receive a fair settlement from my insurance provider. I’d paid every huge premium in full, and on time, for 39 years. Had never filed a claim. Well, the original adjustment offered for a devastated house was—without going into detail—pathetically subpar. I was actually considering selling the house “as is”, taking the pittance of a check provided by the insurance company, and moving into a single-wide. That was truly the sole option with which I was left.

Now, I’m going to be honest. I’ve never hired a lawyer for anything. Never needed to. Frankly, never wanted to. I didn’t hold folks who sued others in very high regard, nor did I hold lawyers who solicited such action in high regard. But, desperate times, and all that. So, in the aftermath of the storm, having been bombarded with television commercials by Harvey Cohen notifying viewers that CLG would be in town for a free consultation event, I decided to seek their advice.

I’m so glad I did.

The lawyer with whom I consulted could not have been more reassuring and confidence-inspiring. Calm. Smart. Intelligent. Compassionate. She not only knew the law, but knew people. She took as much time, if not more, connecting with me as a human being as she did explaining my rights and laying out a plan for a fair settlement. It wasn’t a “sales job”. It was, from the first instant, a genuine expression of concern for my situation, and a true desire to make things right for ME. I left with the sincere belief that I’d not just found an attorney to pry more money out of an insurance company, but had found a true ally who was committed to gaining me a fair and just resolution. I would not be yet another nameless faceless client. Not to her.

In the weeks that followed, I had the pleasure to get to know other members of the team, and found each one as wonderful as the first. They were all quick to reply to my emails, always available for a phone call. My Point of Contact within the Firm has been especially helpful in keeping me informed on what needed to be done and when, in providing answers to all of my questions, and, above all, reassuring me that good people were working hard on my behalf and that things would be alright. To express all that she’s done for me, all that she MEANS to me—both as a legal professional and person, would only add thousands of words to an already overly-long review. Suffice it to say, she’s found a place in my heart that will remain forever.

I’m facing a time crunch now, and am forced to end this review quickly. I’ll continue with more later, and include a few additional insights, as well as elaborate upon what I’ve already mentioned. To sum it up, CLG won me a settlement of more than seven times the amount of the original adjustment. My house can now be rebuilt. My life can now be rebuilt. All thanks to CLG.
