Great attorney for divorce!

Great Attorney! I finally found an attorney who fought hard for me and my children. Christine Remy knows the law very well and made it easy for me to understand every step of the way! She was also very easy to get in touch with, even on weekends and after hours!

My husband and I used Christine Remy’s legal services back in March of 2018 for a custody battle. Mrs. Remy and her team were able to get us custody of my husband’s children in less than one month, and for less than half of what we expected to have to pay based on the experiences of our friends in similar situations. Because of the way she helped us gather our evidence, testimonies, and records, the other party decided to agree to a settlement in our favor instead of fighting it out in front of a judge. After a few weeks of preparation, our actual court date ended up being done in about two hours because the other party decided to just give in because of the strength of our case.
This process went so well for us because Mrs. Remy and Crystal are so knowledgeable. In our consultation alone, they were able to conduct searches of arrest and financial records on the other party and start strategizing on what we could use in our favor. They are also knowledgeable about the legal process and the criteria for winning certain cases, such that they were able to correctly advise us on what route we should take (emergency ex-parte filing versus a regular custody case) to win. Not only that, but they know the history of the court system in the New Orleans area and the background and temperaments of the judges in the area, which allowed them to advise us on how we should file our petitions to get the best chances with the judge that would be most likely to agree with us on the severity of the case and justification for our petition.
One of the things I loved most about working with them was that they are straightforward, but they understand that this is ultimately our money, our time, and our case. So while they would advise us on what to do, they let us make the final decision. For example, they advised that we likely didn’t have enough for an emergency ex-parte filing, but allowed us to decide to do so anyway. As they predicted, with the judge who was in place, it got denied. But they were supportive throughout, and were prepared to object and drive forward for the regular court case.
Another thing I appreciated was Mrs. Remy’s ability to be soft and kind when needed, and straightforward and strategic as well. She knew that because of this kind of case, the judge in place, and the lawyer that the other party got, she needed to be a little more direct, a little more harsh, and put it all on the table.
I also appreciate that Mrs. Remy and her team did not take advantage of our emotional state and charge us an exorbitant amount for her services. Instead, she advised us on the most cost efficient way to get things done. I was so surprised that we were able to get the job done on the retainer we paid instead of having to pay any more. As promised, the same day we paid our retainer, Christine and Crystal got started on the work gathering documentation, sending subpoenas for records, and drafting petition paperwork. They did not waste any time.
Throughout the process, their communication was efficient and direct. We had to follow up with them a few times to decide whether or not we needed to travel from Missouri to New Orleans, but they were gracious enough to handle much of the footwork and court for us in our absence to minimize our travel. They communicate by call, text, or email, which is good because I communicate best by these latter two options. They were direct and to the point, and were realistic and objective about what was going on.
All in all, if you’re looking for a lawyer who knows the environment, the law, the other lawyers, and the judges in place, and who will get you the results you need quickly for a reasonable cost, choose Mrs. Remy. We are so grateful for her, Crystal, and her husband Mark who have helped us get custody of our older kids, reuniting them with their father in a safe and happy environment.

I would not recommend Christine Remy. She promises you she can do stuff to win your case and she does not come through. Did not try to do anything else in my case. After my retainer was paid was informed I would get a refund of some of it only to find out she kept it all and charged for ridiculous things and ridiculous amount exceeding retainer. Would not continue further with an appeal process much less anything else. Was told nothing else I can do :( I am devastated by the outcome .

Spent $4500.00 on a contempt case only to have each court date continued more than 5 times. I provided all employment, income, living arrangements, a whole packet of my personal info. Then, after finally going in front of a judge, she didn’t even know where I worked or my title, which was one of the chief complaints by my ex. Called me a CNA when I’m an RN. That’s like me asking if she was a paralegal!!!! Obviously didn’t put forth much effort to effectively represent me. Nothing was resolved. Was referred to her based on her good reputation, but I learned an expensive lesson and hope to save people money and agony by thinking twice before hiring her. She’s not what she used to be! If I could rate her 0 stars I would!

I can honestly say, Christine Remy saved my daughter's life. She was able to take her out of a bad situation and give her a second chance at being a teenager. She worked diligently for 2 years fighting as if she was her own child. We spent long hours on the phone planning and discussing the case. Christine Remy is amazing, as well as her staff. We needed counsel very fast and wanted only the best. I came across a Facebook conversation where someone recommended Remy and said she was "The vulture of the Westbank". I knew that my Husband and I had to seek her out. When looking for a family law attorney, I consulted with several people I know in the court system including a couple of judges. Christine Remy's name kept being mentioned to me. It's unfortunate that I hadn't gotten those consultations earlier in my legal battles. I needed someone who would be aggressive with my ex-wife's jerk of an attorney. My two previous attorneys wanted to make friends with opposing counsel instead of fighting for MY rights. After meeting with Christine Remy for 5 minutes, I knew things would be different with her on my side. And they definitely were! It's not easy for a father to retain custody of his children, but with Christine's help, I did. She was aggressive in court when she needed to be and was my counsel/therapist when I need that. After my experience I felt taken advantage of. I spoke to Ms. Remy prior to filing for divorce and informed her that my wife was not going to be seeking any alimony or any of my assets. The very next thing she told me was that it would be in my best interest to go with a flat fee over a billable hour payment scheme. The flat fee was quite large but I was not really in a state of mind to question it. Everything went through fine without any need to go to court after our six month separation.

Many months later her office (quite accidentally) sent me an invoice for a little over $700. This covered a filing fee and 3.25 hours of work. When I sent her an angry email, she informed me that it was a mistake and to not worry about it. My biggest problem is that had I not agreed to the flat fee, which was supposedly in my best interest, the ~$700 was ALL that I would've had to pay. The flat fee was almost five times as much, or around $1,000 an hour. She may or may not be a fine lawyer, but keep your own counsel when it comes to your billing decisions.
