On 12/20/18, I went to the Destiny Ln office and was given a brochure to review, instead of speaking with someone about medicaid for my elderly aunt. After reading the brochure, I needed to speak with an attorney so I called and after answering several questions, was told I was being transferred directly to an attorney (Tina Cantrell). I got her voicemail, and left a detailed message. On 12/27/18, no response so I went back to the office and asked to see Ms Cantrell. I was told that I was on her call list for today. On 01/08/19 I still had not heard from Ms Cantrell, so I emailed Lynda Love (District Ombudsman), and asked for help. She responded with an email that I should get a response in 48-72 hours. On 01/16/19, I emailed Mrs Love again saying that Ms Cantrell still has not responded, and I would prefer to have someone else answer my questions, that was interested in helping me and my aunt. Mrs Love responded with an email saying she had forwarded my concerns to the Executive Director. Well guess what...later that day the elusive Ms Cantrell called to answer my questions, after I had specifically requested another. Ms Cantrell's initial advice would not have helped my aunt preserve any assets whatsoever, but because I had already sought guidance elsewhere during the wait, I began to ask her specific questions, to which she did agree that my ideas would help my aunt hold on to some assets.
I am very disappointed with Kentucky Legal Aid, and hope that this experience helps others find their answers elsewhere.

Granddaughter has been dealing with this agency for approximately 1 week . She was told in the first conversation that she qualified for assistance.However after repeated phone calls and leaving messages to not receive any response she has become very frustrated.During these phone calls she was told that she would receive return phone calls .Times have varied from 1-2 hours to the next day .She has yet to receive a return phone call at ANY time.
At this point she has no confidence that any assistance will be provided.As a grandparent I feel that if she was not to be helped in any way she shouldn't have been told that she was .I'm sure that there is some type of chain of command.in this organization and I intend to follow it till I receive some answers.
To the public I wish to say ,don't depend on this organization for assistance.She has not even received the courtesy of a phone call .

First they lost my paperwork then when I called to see what was going on I got the run around. I ended up having to go through the whole process over, finally I got to talk to a "lawyer" (Ashley Lee )who hung up on me and now will not return any of my calls. I thought they were there to help you boy was I wrong

Two phone calls just to get basic questions answered were received by a very rude receptionist, Mary. A supplemental phone call from her supervisor provided zero information as well. You would have thought money was being taken from their pockets instead of this being a public service providing assistance to those in need. How very sad and I cannot imagine anyone without any push in them to get any help at all. Still waiting for a call from the Board of Directors Executive.

They did absolutely nothing for me but wasted my time and gas driving to talk with them for something they could've told me over the phone.

Didn't feel like they helped my mom at all. We sat for an hour with a gentleman who kept telling us he didn't know what we wanted to do even though we were specifically telling him what we wanted.
