In the courtroom, Cathy is an absolute powerhouse! She is so good that you might even end up feeling a little sorry for the other lawyers, or even your ex. Her years of experience and razor-sharp mind enable her to argue your case with an efficacy that I actually find rather enjoyable to watch (well, as enjoyable as possible in spite of the horrendous nature of the divorce process).
I should also mention that it has been, and continues to be, a little difficult for me to afford her services. But, more than ever before, I also realize how very true it is that "you get what you pay for." This has been very clear in the hearings as I have now watched two other attorneys try to match her intellectually and in preparedness. Good luck with that! What you are paying for is an incredibly smart and experienced attorney who is clearly at the height of her career. And, what is even more impressive is that she doesn't just coast on her strengths when I am guessing that she probably could. Cathy cares about doing her very best for her clients and carefully prepares for her time in the courtroom. I have seen this evidenced in every step of my case so far. I am guessing that this is probably why she is also rated so highly by her peers. As I have told her many times, I am just so thankful to have her on my side!
Even though she can be blunt, Cathy and her staff are very knowledgeable and understanding of what you are going through. I felt the entire time they were on my side. My questions were ALWAYS answered in timely manner. Usually the very same day.
Do not hesitate to use Cathy Cook Law. You will be represented by an attorney who is very aggressive for your needs.
The most critical trait for me was how fast and effective she responds and reacts to things that are going on in the court room. She picks up very quickly on the impression witnesses are leaving and effectively comes up with a counter plan to execute to better establish credibility. In civil cases that are mostly based on testimony, I have found Cathy to be very effective and strongly recommend her for anyone in my position.
Cathy is a well-respected no nonsense attorney who gives it to you straight and sugar coats nothing. She and her team are diligent about returning phone calls, emails, and follow-up correspondents. I was most impressed with Cathy in a courtroom setting. She is an expert in the Domestic Relations field and it shows! She comes well prepared to her trials, her execution is amazing, and you will feel at ease and confident with her by your side.
I highly recommended Cathy Cook because I believe that she is one top-notch attorney, and I will continue to do so!
I would personally like to again thank Cathy and her team for all the hard work and dedication during my case.
Motto? “We help people rebuild their lives.” THIS IS BIGGEST LOAD OF BULLCRAP AND THE ABSOLUTE OPPOSITE OF WHAT CATHY COOK BELIEVES IN... She's all about the $$$ regardless of how her firm's representation plays out for her clients.
Despite all my efforts to provide information, they dropped the ball on my case and my child's future is still suffering to this day because of it. To add insult to injury - Cathy Cook didn't conduct timely follow-up and the time to file an appeal or objection passed before I could make an informed decision on how to proceed. She treats people like they're worthless & she is extremely harsh and rude. I was initially told that my case was strong, only for them to tell me the exact opposite when they failed to properly represent me. The best part? The associate attorney representing me moved out of state, I wasn't informed my attorney had left her firm, and Cathy Cook refused to continue to represent me. I'm out approximately $7,000 and have NOTHING to show for it.
Save yourself heartache and money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS FIRM.
Once at a meeting, I asked about a point that had been discussed before, but which I hadn’t understood. Cathy began her response by saying, “We’ve discussed this before. I don’t want to take your money [by devoting redundant billable time to this].” I asked her to go over it again anyway for me, but her response illustrates a common theme with Cathy of being parsimonious with my money. The quality of the advice has been consistently high – to the point, with nothing more than what I need – on what seems to me a complicated family law situation.
I hear horror stories of what friends and coworkers have gone through with significantly higher priced lawyers who did not protect their interests, whereas working with Cathy I have been successful in protecting my interests at a very reasonable cost in both time and money. My sense of her is that she’s right there, on my side, just picking out the laws and legal custom that are relevant to my case, and avoiding anything that isn’t absolutely useful.
It is so easy for a lawyer to throw in more than is necessary, or to take longer to get to the bottom line which increases fees perhaps making for a more contentious, difficult case and Cathy seems to me temperamentally opposed to that – she is temperamentally blunt, efficient and honest.
KUDOS----
Cathy is my advocate and my friend. I am a dad only looking out for my children and their best and she is only interested in the same. She is not into playing legal games. Cathy tells me everything I need to hear, whether I'm right or wrong. I love her straight no nonsense answers that cut with precision to the heart of the matter. She doesn't dance around the issues but is rather upfront, direct, and honest and for that I consider her a trustworthy. She and her staff have always been compassionate and caring regarding my case. She has always been available to me when I have called in the past during off hours, nights, and on a holiday weekend.
I learned the hard way by initially hiring a non-trial Attorney for my high conflict divorce. This resulted in a need for modification. Cathy fought for my children to have more time with their dad by a motion to Modifying Parenting Time. As a result of her experience in the court room and knowledge of the law I received additional time that is precious to me and my children. I am ever thankful.

Update 9/12/2016
I have hired Cathy twice now. I read the review below and would like to say that Cathy is very straightforward in giving legal advice, which is what I needed during an emotional custody trial. She was able to tell me likely scenarios and timelines, not just things that I wanted to hear. I hired her as an experienced trial attorney to look out for the best interest of my children, not be a therapist. But even still Cathy was very empathetic towards me and my children. During one point in the trial I had to remind her these were my children, not hers. She and her staff have encouraged me through some very tough times.
She is exceptionally skilled and resilient when it comes to interacting with me as a client, the court, and other attorneys. Whenever we met or had to go to court her guidance and advice helped me to be comfortable with the process; I always felt like I was working with a close friend. She was able to hear my numerous concerns with patience, and direct those concerns to the issues that mattered most.
Cathy was passionate about my children, fighting for their best interest all the way. She went above and beyond what I would expect. She sacrificed her personal time working late into the night to ensure the best possible outcome. I filed for reallocation and 15 months later through her representation she and her staff has literally helped to save my daughter's life. My motion was granted, and I was designated the sole residential and legal custodial parent of my children. I was then able to obtain the medical care my daughter needed. Our lives are forever changed and I am thankful for the services provided to me from Cathy and her staff.
Sincerely,
D.J.
