I had no idea what to expect when I first walked into Johns office. I had never had a attorney before and I was nervous. John laid my nerves to rest the first time I talked to him. He also met the expectations for my case that he laid out in our first meeting. I think that overall John and Angie did a excellent job for me. I would just like to say for the record that the John D Hale Law Firm is absolutely amazing I hired John to represent me on a case out of Christian County Missouri expecting the worst. John agree to take my case and handled it with 100% professionalism and did The Impossible facing jail time which was mandatory in the state of Missouri I had my doubts that the outcome will be good. Don worked very hard on my case and assured me that he would be the best he could to represent me while all the time letting me know of the possibility of the outcome. When it came time to go to court John showed up early and have a discussion with me again. I hired John Kail for multiple legal issues I had experienced during a very difficult time in my life. I had not been in legal trouble at all until this point in my life and had no idea of what to expect from an attorney. I figured it would be like on tv where the judge throws the book at the criminal, there is minimal interaction with the defense lawyer, and the bad guy ends up behind bars even when the defense lawyer hustles the best deal he/she can with the prosecuting attorney. Fortunately, none of this happened. John has an excellent reputation with the judges and attorneys in the Springfield, MO and Greene County area. He commands respect for his clients and will not tolerate anything less from his colleagues. John made himself readily available for me if I had questions or concerns, and even if I had to leave a message he returned my calls promptly, sometimes on the weekends when necessary. The sentences in my court cases were far better than the expected outcome, especially with the charges I was facing. John explained to me that if I was a proactive client and followed his advice then the sentencing could possibly be much more lenient than anticipated. He walked me through every step of the trial process whenever we had to go before a judge, advising me to be honest, open, and descriptive about the things I had done proactively in order to better myself and distance myself from the criminal behavior I had exhibited in the past. After fines and court costs, I was sentenced to unsupervised probation and minimal community service hours. My life is back on track now thanks to John Kail. Over 9 months John Kail was hired to serve as attorney for my brother in a DUI case. John Kail was chosen because of his favorable google reviews. John Kail met with my brother and informed him that yes, he could help him. Kail was friendly and confident that he would provide him with the best outcome possible. My brother came away feeling that Kail was a great attorney and confident in the service he would provide. In the span of May until December John Kail showed up to court only to ask for a continuance. He saw my brother during every court session. It was not until January, 20 minutes before facing the judge did John Kail reveal what the outcome of the verdict was going to be. The outcome was not what John Kail had stated in the initial sit down meeting. My brother was not prepared for this news and at the same time was not prepared to question his attorney. According to my brother "he was the expert", "I didn't know what to say".
I then spoke personally with Kail. I wanted to know how come he did not once meet with my brother to discuss the possible outcomes. John Kail stated that "I do not have time to chase down all of my clients...". Last I checked John Kail was not a public defender. He was/is a personal attorney. He was hired for 2000 dollars. 2000 dollars my brother did not have, so had to make payments.
When asked why he called a continuance in court for 7 months, he stated he does not like to close a case until "I get paid".

This experience is less about the outcome and more about the service provided. Better stated, lack of service, lack of information, lack of time, lack of effort, and lack of care.

If you choose to hire John Kail, keep this in mind:
1. Be prepared to pay him at once to get a timely outcome.
2. Be educated on your case and what the law is.
3. Do not assume he is going to inform you of any major decisions having to do with your case.
4. Seek him out, stay on top of your case, ask for details.
5. Do not assume he is working to get the best outcome possible.

It would have been helpful for John Kail to inform his client that he would need to be the one to ask questions because Kail would not voluntarily provide any information without being asked. Hindsight is always 20/20. I felt this information needed to be shared to help others avoid this same experience.

Law enforcement officials have high stress levels affiliated with their jobs. Due to this as well as other factors, they do not always follow proper protocol with making arrests.
