If I could give negative stars I would. Don't waste your time with Legal Services. Just hire a REAL attorney thru whatever means you have to. This office let my housing issue just fall thru the cracks. I was given crackpot legal advice and left to suffer in an apartment with Black Toxic Mold. I had to figure my own way thru the legal system to find out anything. This office just dropped me and NEVER contacted me back. Thanks for wasting my time!!!!!!

Quiet atmosphere

In 2010 Ms Linda was my paralegal assigned to help me with a custody case. Jacqueline Anne Brown kept my son away from me for five years I was trying to cope with... adjust to the medication the VA prescribed in an effort to move forward in finding my son. WARNING!!! If you don't know where to send the court order, they can't help you. After hiring a private investigator I found my son. Legal Aide was able to do the rest...all I did was sign all paperwork put in front of me. The way she designed my paperwork enabled me to file A Verified Motion and Affidavit for Citation for Contempt of Court in 2016 the court ordered the clerk to issue an Order to Appear and answer contempt charges for the Parenting Plan as well as Decision-making pursuant to CRS 18-3-304 which is "Violation of custody order or order relating to parental responsibility" and CRS 14-10-131 "Modification of custody or decision-making responsibilities" respectively. Jacqueline Anne Brown had caught a prima facia Felony case without a legal defense although there are two affirmative defenses her so-called Law firm and attorney did not assert the affirmative. Since the VA diagnosed me, she never thought I could file the motions.

That was one of my experiences.
But they have Legal Aide at different sites in the city.
Example: I went to Mercy's Gate for legal aide and the attorney LIED to the police saying that i said something that didn't say and reported a LIE to the police... Just so Jacqueline Anne Brown could be billed $11,100 by her Attorney it could have been more but I was so discusted with the system I stopped in the middle of trial. The system is not set up to recognize that a attorney can lie ... But it's set up to call the LIE creditable because thats just what they do. If I had not experienced that last incident I would have given 5 stars. I wish I knew the deceptive female attorneys name ... I would share it with you. THIS BEHAVIOR IS POSSIBLY CRIMINAL IN ITSELF.

Exactly what I expected, no firm answeres. Receptionist is nicer in person. Hoping for the best;-/ Update- hope to whoever you pray to that you don't have to use these uncaring, insensitive amateurs! They patted themselves on the back for getting me nowhere. They took care of one small item, and left me to sink with the important stuff! 0 stars! Beware of these people!

I hope you never have the need to go here. I think they might be able to empty the trash, careful, that may be you. Barely able to handle simple stuff, they don't want to commit to anything, they might get get sued and have to hire a lawyer no stars

Wouldn't talk to me in person or on the phone. Just sent mail telling that they wouldn't help me.

We love coming out here its absolutely amazing, not the easiest of hikes but we go as often as we can, if a 3 year old can do it I can do it!

They told me that I qualified for bankruptcy assistance in one phone call and in the very next phone call they told me that they couldn't help me

I spoke with a wonderful woman who was very sympathetic and went out of her way to be able to answer many of my questions. The only issue I have with them is that they simply aren't able to offer assistance to as many people as need it. I would love to see this service extended to more people.

1 star is too many. They did my divorce paperwork wrong and the court wouldn't accept it. I called again for help with custody issues after I had to pay another lawyer for my divorce and they refused to help me say2the don't help after the divorce is final. They never helped they literally only made everything worse. 1 star is too many and the literally don't give a F.

I went here for help with my landlord/tenant case. Was given a whole lot of talk but ultimately let down, and the wrong advice that cost me $1500. Colorado needs a better option. I would not recommend this place.

I called to ask basic questions regarding family Child support and collecting interest due on judgments and unpaid medical as the Attorneys at CSU do not represent individuals. I was told they have no interest in helping with legal matters in child support. So, I guess children are not important to legal services.

Do not listen to the lying, rude receptionist. She is like a guard dog, paid to be mean and insulting to clients both over the phone and in person to discourage people from pursuing their legal rights. She is completely powerless to do anything to stop you from filling out the application for low income legal aid. The question you need to ask her is in person, since over the phone she will lie and tell you her office can do nothing for you, which is a LIE. Then she will punctuate it with such supercilious condescension and abruptness, interrupting and trying to appear that she has no time for you, and nothing but complete disgust for you, with one thing in mind. TO MAKE YOU LEAVE AND GIVE UP THE PURSUIT OF YOUR TAXPAYER FUNDED LEGAL SERVICES. Ignore her. Ask her only one question, and one question only, and ask it in person. Actually, don't ask. Just demand that she give you an application to fill out to see if you qualify for legal assistance. In the confusing section that says "Tell us a little bit about your problem," just write an exact legal action requested.The question is deliberately vague so they can throw your application in the trash. But if you just simply say, "Hand me the application for low income legal services," she cannot legally refuse you. If she tries bamboozling you with confusing questions, ignore them and repeat, hand me the application. You don't need to say please to her, because the more polite you are, the more rude she becomes.

The receptionist sounds like a I-refuse-to-do-my-job Kim Davis and sounds miserable, monotonous and makes the whole experience dreadful.

Everyone recommended I use this place and the lady who answered the phone was always ride and had a "cant do" attitude. She will cut you off and tell you no before u can finish a sentence.

The lady who answered the phone was beyond rude. I was told immediately that they were unable to help me and yet the receptionist didn't even know my case. When I called a few months later to get help with my case I was told that they won't help me cause my case had already been started and I should have gone to them in the beginning. It wasn't till my second call when I found out that I could have received their services had I gone through the application process, which the person answering the phone should have explained in the first place and never did. This office is a joke and I can't believe our tax dollars pay to support their efforts when they are not even doing their job.

my experiences with colorado legal services is that they discriminate against marginalized people, and only pick cases which they can win, and which do not add any, or have any controversy surrounding those legal issues. They refuse to check the facts instead allowing rampant discrimination to continue in such persons lives.
