Review is for Mediation Services

Pros:
A couple of excellent mediators

Cons:
Expensive - plan on $1500 per party per day
Convoluted charges and fees with incomplete totals
Quick to blame you, their customer, for any issue that may arise.

We are a small law firm that has dealt with JAMS mediation services for years. They recently changed how their bills are displayed. They used to total the column of all their charges and fee. Now the new total doesn't total the entire column only a section of it. I saw a total at the bottom and the amount I paid. My amount was bigger than the total. On the next page I assumed was my refund. Which I learned later was not.

After two month of getting nowhere with my inquiries concerning what I thought was my refund, I sent an email to the VP of finance. He sent me to Erwin who then told me I was wrong and I owed them money. Arguing was futile at this point; I sent in a check.

Why the 1 star review? This could have been cleared up in my first inquiry. A simple, "We changed how the billing is displayed. Sorry for any confusion this caused." Did that happen…..No
Even when I took this to the VP. He could have said something similar like, "I could see how our changes could be confusing. I'll look into that issue. I'll also talk with my staff and see why this didn't get cleared up sooner." Did that happen…….No
Did Jams make ANY attempt to try and work with me on this issue or apologize or even show a minutia of sympathy to me? ……No

Instead I got a regurgitation of their convoluted bill. "Balance Forward of $x (JAMS Initial Non-Refundable Fee) (+) Services Rendered: $x (October Services) Grand Total: $ x Payments Received: ($x) Total Balance Due: $x" (He had to use "Grand Total." This amount and these word are never displayed on the bill.)

Advice: Find a mediation service that actually cares about you, the customer. They'll likely be cheaper too.

Well, I didn't really like this place, BUT not because they did poorly. It was my circumstances that left me in a so-so manner. They did their best to accommodate us their clients and I judge that effort to be admirable.

I recently went through JAMS. They charge high prices and don't care about who is right and who is wrong. They just want to settle the case. It's all just a bunch of lawyers playing games not caring about what's right.
