I contacted LSLA for assistance with a legal matter, but I'm constantly informed that a problem exists with their system and to call again. I was able to do the intake app with a rep. However, it serves no purpose if I'm unable to get any follow-up info and/or converse with a rep. Geeze...contacting LSLA actually added to my stress level. Thanks for nothing!

The whole idea of representing veterans is a sham. I tried for months to get them to represent me in a divorce and they denied me. The lawyers are not helpful and are pitiful. I would not recommend these people to any disabled veteran. They are very unpatriotic.

Notice the generic response to the comments that are on the negative but informative side? They won't help me and I'm disabled, low income. Bet I get a generic response as well.

I'm of the opinion the ambulance chasers at lone-star legal aid of Texas lack the fortitude or courage to take on any State agency. Given what I believed to be an easy win by preponderance of evidence, they cowardly supported their fellow travelers, making one lame excuse after another........Don't waste your time if you are actually looking for a proper representative with backbone. The so-called attorney I spoke with was extremely augmentative and rude. With an attitude such as that he'd diffidently turn hostile witness/rep. in court.

They no longer help those that are needed the most. Years ago they were a wonderful organization. Now they don't want to do the job they were put there to do. And that job is to help those less fortunate. especially those who are disabled.

I have been tremendously helped by a couple of attorneys within the Consumer Division at Lonestar Legal Aid on a particular issue dealing with my HOA and my home.
As an aside, however, I have been denied service on a matter dealing with Social Security despite it being something which in my estimation they could easily help with (forgive me if that sounds 'privileged' or as if I feel I am "owed" something - that's not my intent. I understand this is an organization which works partly on donations and contributions). I did speak to an attorney who gave me some advice over the phone, but then received a letter saying (paraphrased) that I was, technically, eligible for service, but that they could not offer services to everyone who applied.
All-in-all, I am thankful to them, and feel that they are deserving of 5 Stars and more, as again, the managing director, (when she was my attorney), and my current attorney, are both amazing people as well as attorneys, and have helped in ways above and beyond the scope of the HOA issue.
If anyone from Lonestar is reading this, thank you for your assistance. One of my most intense hopes is to get back on my feet, regain at least a measure of the life I used to lead, and to be able to 'pay it forward'.

Well Ms. Giselle and the person over crimes Victims is very rude and unprofessional. They gave me the run around only to lie and deny my application especially after Ms. Giselle lied to me. They have resources to handle out of state cases but can not even handle cases with in our own county. Shame. This is a shame because this is where our hard paying tax dollars go and we can not even get the help we need.

I have mixed feeling regarding Lonestar and it’s a matter of how you apply. I was so disappointed and frustrated with my first encounter with them but the actual office inside the VA was way more help. Thank you Mr. Valle for actually taking the time to listen and not just brushing me off.
I was referred to this place because I am a veteran and would be able to receive assistance from them. I originally applied to this company five days after my incident and was given not so pleasant customer service. The intake person for the veterans side (Anna) was hardly available and did not return calls. My consult was rescheduled twice and when I did finally speak to the Attorney Mariah Nolan... I got absolutely nothing. Her attitude was very nonchalant and not so professional. She told me that I didn’t really have a case before she even reviewed my documents and even though there was a violation of timeframe she said I was allowed. Today I received an email stating that I had no case and when I tried to respond I found out that I had been blocked.WHAT PRACTICE blocks potential clients? After a month and a half I felt completely devastated about the process.
I decided to go to the VA and was told that there was legal office in the building and to my surprise it was Lonestar. Mr. Valle was my intake coordinator and I’m so grateful that he was able to empathize and hear me out. After talking with him and showing him all of the paperwork I had, he was able to see that the finance company did not follow the guidelines within contract and felt that I had a good case since I had proof and provided the timeline.
I was ready to give up but clearly Lonestar does have some employees who care enough and are willing to do their job in a professional manner.
I will provide updates on the process and outcome!

Yesterday, I made an application by telephone. The lady I spoke with was both respectful and professional. At the end of the interview, I was told that I should hear something in 2 to 3 weeks. To my surprise, I received a telephone call from an attorney this morning. We discussed the facts regarding my legal issues for over an hour. Her advice was to file a Wrongful Eviction suit against the apartment management to recover the value of my property that was taken, then threw away before I had finished moving out. The legal issues were more complex, but I am very grateful for the service and advice I received from Lone Star Legal Aid. Thanks!

I want to thank all of the honest comments on here because I think it may have saved me the trouble of using this agency. To let down a veteran, Harvey victim or disabled person speaks volumes of this place. Too many bad comments on here and only a 3 star rating. That's not good. It seems the only good comments are employees who I'm sure after their comment, they received their bonus or its their friends that post good comments. Reading these comments just left a bad taste in my mouth. Thank you again to all the commentors and good luck in your endeavors!

This place of employment is great for any Legal Assistant or Paralegal that is focused strictly on cases & working on cases. There is a system for storing case files that assists in producing work at a higher rate of speed. The company does test all pre-potential employees. If scores meet the standards, the employee procedures forward to a second phase of system training & testing. Once the employee completes both phases, the employee will be assigned to a Supervisor & Dept. Everyone is responsible to answer their phone line in the Consumer Dept. Answering phones was necessary when assisting with intake and disaster relief intake. There is plenty of room for growth within this company. alz➕❤♡

What a joke! This is only to "fish" prospect clients. It is very sad that all of you are preying on people with low income and in great need of help. I was expecting some legal advice on the so call "Clinic" but all what i did was wait in line for two hours...filled up my life information....talk to someone who refused to give any legal advice...scan my papers and sent home. Never called me for advice or to tell me where to find the much needed legal advice...however i received a letter saying so sorry but we can not help you...no money no help pretty much!!!

This organization is not helpful at all. The lady i talked to did not even ask me for my details first but just concluded that they could not help me as they do not have the resources. It is a racists organization because she gave me a number to an African organization saying they would be in a position to help me. But yet this so called Lone Star Legal Aid keeps taking people's donations claiming they are offering legal aid. It is not legal aid if you single out people unjustly and discriminate. You are violating your rights to operate as a legal aid organization.
