On November 11th, 2017, at 11:55 am, I was driving down highway 288. The weather was beautiful, my phone was set to the hands free mode, and my favorite playlist was getting me through my commute to a family barbecue. I felt something hit my passenger side, and I just thought it was debris that I had run over. Suddenly, the next thing I knew I was spinning in circles, getting hit by airbags in every direction. It took 10 seconds and my life changed forever. I had no idea what had just happened as I was in an extreme state of panic trying to process everything. I was struck on my passenger side by a distracted driver trying to make an unsafe lane change. Let me share a little bit of my story without giving too many details. This is my 2nd case with Smith and Hassler but this will be my last. The reputation of this firm I see totally different than my 1st case. To be totally honest, Im disappointed and most definitely frustrated by the lack of communication and slow communcation. Smith & Hassler crew was able to take care of my legal needs. Attorney Kim was easy to talk to and guided me thru it all. And Ebony was always there to answer any questions I had when calling into the office. For a firm that I would see on tv all the time their fees are reasonable, from shopping around it seems like they stick to average prices, payment plan was super helpful too.

I was in an auto accident in December 2016. Because the insurance company was giving me the run around about medical attention, I decided to seek out an attorney as it was a definite fact that I was not at fault (at a stop light, rear-ended and a witness brought dash cam evidence – just to name a few reasons)

I contacted multiple attorneys and Mr. Carter was flexible, was willing to meet with in the late afternoon very quickly and was straight forward with me. He was always quick to respond to any question or concern I had via email (even late at night sometimes) which was unexpected but welcome. I was worried about being able to get the medical attention I needed because I know that with car accidents, medical insurance generally denies coverage since it is third party liability of the car insurance. He helped me to be able to seek the medical advice and attention that I desperately needed and even gave me personal accounting for family members who had similar treatment to what I need.

We had to do mediation in which he was very well prepared for and briefed me before the mediation and I had to do a deposition where he gave me detailed advice. There were no surprises and he was forthcoming with any information he had ASAP – including emailing me right after Harvey, in the midst of flooding, with a settlement letter.

In the end, we settled without going to court for 96% MORE than the initial settlement offer (no, that is not a typo) and I most certainly recommend Mr. Carter to assist you with your personal injury case needs!

I selected Daragh Carter to represent me for my personal injury case due to a vehicle accident. He was the 7th attorney I interviewed out of 11 when researching who to hire. There are pages and pages of attorneys in Houston, all will accept your case with nothing down and all will take 33 1/3 of your settlement, too; I wanted to choose wisely. Many I spoke with and interviewed in person seemed more concerned for the opposing insurance company than myself (the potential client).

Daragh spoke with me directly. No paperwork to complete first or administrative assistant to speak with and answer a series of questions (quite frankly I was tired of repeating my accident saga over and over again). I was most impressed by his patience in answering all of my questions, anticipating my questions before I knew to ask them, his knowledge on case law, and (most importantly to me) he responded to all of my emails/texts very quickly. He is very personable, provides common sense legal advice, and (hard to find these days) friendly!

I went to Smith and Hassler's office due to a hit and run accident back in October 2016. My attorney is Darahg Carter. Always, kept me updated on how the case was going against the other Driver's insurance. My mother and I went for Physical therapy as pain was present. My mother's and I case has been settled, and the vehicle has been repaired and back home for about 2 months now. The attorney and assistant are still fighting for us to get more money for the Vehicle's value decrease. Overall, totally recommended!

I can't recommend Smith and Hassler (and in particular, my attorney Daragh Carter) highly enough if you have a personal injury claim in an auto accident. Unfortunately I was involved in an auto accident and had my brand new truck totaled and my thumb broken, by a driver with minimum coverage auto insurance (not to mention extremely unresponsive customer service). I chose Smith and Hassler because of the excellent online reviews, and although I had reasonably high expectations, they were all exceeded. Daragh was always pleasant to deal with, 100% transparent, and kept me informed from the beginning of the process through the end. The entire team at Smith and Hassler managed all the communications with all insurance companies involved, so all I had to do was shoot a quick email every now and then to Daragh & team (which were always responded to promptly). Today I spoke with a lawyer named Drew about an accident i was involved in that wasn't a personal injury situation however he still took the time to advise me and guide me in the right direction.
