The absolute best family law attorneys in Phoenix! Mark Shields and Robert Newell have been absolute blessings as I've navigated through the process of a divorce!

I had only one court date and my own lawyer wasn't able to show up so another lawyer from the office came in Gillespie place to represent me which was annoying considering I'm paying A LOT OF MONEY for my lawyer. After just one court date I'm stuck paying a big bill and I still don't understand how it's so much. Save your cash and look around before coming here.

I can't imagine anyone in a divorce or child custody matter that wouldn't want to hire Mark Shields. The comfort I have felt that my case was handled properly is beyond expressions of gratitude for Mark. I was in a very nasty and complicated custody case with my ex wife and found myself in need of an attorney. I called Gillespie-Shield and set up a consultation with Mr.Jeffery McCombs.
During the consultation, Mr. McCombs took every measure to make me feel comfortable, as if I were his only client, and make sure I understood everything and what to expect concerning my case.
He never sugar coated anything and he was always up front with me and extremely professional as was his assistant, Ruth Hyde.
There was a final ruling on my case just recently and the results were amazing! Mr. McCombs not only got me the results I was hoping for, but so much more! The judge ruled almost entirely in my favor, which Mr. McCombs told me was extremely rare in cases like this.

I would not even give this company 1 star.
If you want an attorney that states repeatedly how they dont want to be at court, and puts in zero effort and bills you for things that were not completed then give this firm a chance. The most unethical, non productive attorney I have ever experienced.

I had one consultation with Mark and before he was even my lawyer he looked at the case and acted as my lawyer and called the opposing lawyer right away to get more details about a ridiculous acquisition i was up against. That moment I Hired Mark as my attorney for a custody/divorce settlement. I was up against some tough odds going into the case hearing trying to win custody of my son and Mark and his team did everything in his power to make sure I would get custody of my son. He is a great lawyer and highly recommend. Easy to contact and communicate with

I was referred to this firm due to my attorney closing her doors. I was assigned Robert Newell who poorly handled my emergency custody hearing to which the abusers where given back my child. Then emails and phone calls he tells me he knew nothing of my trial which was bogus as I spoke to the other attorney and she stated he knew about my trial. He convinced me to fire him so as to get a possible continuance as he saw no winning my case and stated my previous attorney had led my case astray. I gave a 3$k retainer and upon the quickness of his withdrawal I was supposed to receive some of it back as I understand there’s payment for the 30 mins he poorly helped at my emergency hearing but this firm used almost a grand per the emailed receipt of a supposed refund to my account that never happened. His actions put me in a pickle and caused my case to be bundled more and me have to get a rush attorney. I do not recommend this firm due to this attorneys poor representation and advice. I especially don’t appreciate the amount used for this attorney to tell me to fire him.

Robert Newell and Shari Vitari were amazing. I was very grateful for the personalized attention they gave me. From the time I put Robert on retainer I knew I had someone I could trust working for me. Even though the judicial system failed me it wasn't because of the legal aid I had.

The lawyer was fine but the billing system there does not work receiving bills for months after the case has been closed went to the office more than once payed in full then was sent another bill days after. getting sick from this I have MS this stress is affecting my health. I was going through an amicable split where we agreed on everything, however I though it would be prudent to have an actual lawyer draw up the paperwork. Jeff told me it would cost about $2500 dollars to "get it done right".

I had one meeting and a phone conversation with him. I found out that information he had given me on pursuing a separation instead of a divorce was in fact incorrect. Suddenly I was wondering why I was paying a lot for a professional who didn't seem to be very well informed.

In spite of agreeing on how to split assets, he was constantly advocating for me to give more assets to my wife (who didn't want them). He insisted that she had to take ownership of half of the house and half of my retirement (she didn't want or need either).

After one meeting and one phone conversation I told him to stop working on the case. It was clear he was not well informed, but also clear that he was not interested in advocating for our mutual benefit, much less for my benefit (I was the specific client, as couple can't share an attorney for divorce).

He kept $600 out of my retainer for his "work" Never did bother to provide an itemized bill or statement. I got my divorce done at "The Divorce Store" for a total cost of $800 and it was just finalized a few days ago with the exact terms we both wanted (that he had fought so hard to modify to my detriment)

In summary. This is the lawyer you want to recommend to your opponent. He will consistently advocate against his clients best interests and charge significant fees for a generally spotty knowledge of the law and it's processes.

Waste of money!
Jeffery McCombs was the attorney who was assigned to our case - we never even got to talk to or meet any of the founders of this law office. Jeff took our money and filed paperwork, no more than a paralegal is capable of. He didn't get us anything more than what we independently negotiated with the opposing party. He didn't even put our proposal into other "more professional" words. The final papers submitted to the judge were my own rough draft of what we thought would be a fair compromise. I literally have no idea what we paid this guy thousands of dollars for. Don't waste your money.

Mr. Goldfarb and his assistant Selena deserve ten stars.

They realized my love for my son would remain true and forthright and eloquently and professionally, considering my limited income, kept pace with my tumultuous endeavor.
