***In response to Jones’ comment
The reason I had my mother call was because after myself and my newly hired attorney called his office numerous times with one answer each then constant ignoring, we wanted to see if having someone their caller ID didn’t know would get an answer. To say that he had zero knowledge of me trying to reach out to him shows his lack of profession or his lack of professionalism in the office. To say that he did everything he could is ridiculous because my new attorney got me a better deal and I’ve actually improved as a person because of it. The fact that he rudely went in and cut in line was brought to my lawyers attention by the court.” ***

Richard Jones is only in it for the money, nothing more. After speaking with him over the phone and being completely open and honest with my situation, he assured me that my case was easy and I’d be fine. Literally a day later, he called me and said that the judge said she would only be content with me going to SAFP. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s an intreatment program which means you have to turn yourself in and then be put on a waiting list for a program (still inprisoned) that will take 5 months. I had the potential of being in jail for up to a year or longer. Mr. Jones explained that this was the best deal and there would be no other offers. I know he reads all his comments and tries to transfer the blame to the client so let me follow up with this. I had a gut feeling that he was screwing me over so I hired another attorney which means that on top of the fee I paid Jones, I paid for another attorney to represent me and thank God I did. Within three days, my new attorney informed me that Jones came into court the literal next day, rudely cut in line and asked the judge “what are we gonna do about this?”. I learned from my new attorney that this is what the judge was mad about, not my past actions which I’ve learned are forgiveable and my warrant has now been lifted. An action, might I add, that Jones said wouldn’t happen. You think that’s the end of the story? There’s more. After learning of this; my mother, my attorney and myself tried to reach out to jones and his staff to speak both about a hopeful refund or at the very least, a simple signature saying that i was switching attorneys and they knew about it. They answered our calls one time each, said they’d call us back and then ignored our calls each time after this. Jones is literally only in it for the money. Had I not gone with my gut and gotten a new attorney, I’d be in jail for something that was Jones’ fault and he’d be collecting an easy pay day. I should have trusted the other negative reviews on here but I didn’t because until you pay him, he is a super smooth talker. I will be paying attention to this the next couple days because I’m sure he will try and post a defense. When he does, I will screenshot it and take it to court and fight to get my 750.00 copay that he stole essentially. Jones, if you are reading this and feel the need to offer me a refund, no further action will take place, however, any further action that doesn’t involve you, my refund and myself will result in a small claims case so please choose wisely when responding.

UPDATE (in response to Richard's comment on my review): HE STILL DOESN'T KNOW WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN MY CASE, WOW. I did not have a warrant issued this year. I hired you in January 2014 and by March 2014, the warrant was issued because YOU didn't go to court on my behalf. That's what I hired you for....to go to court. Not to tell me "I need to do community service" before you even talk to a judge. YOU caused my bond forfeiture and there is no denying that. Your excuses and denial of responsibility continue to show your lack of professionalism and common sense. Thanks for nothing.

Richard was awful and only helped me get my case dismissed after I threatened him with a poor review....well, here it is: I think he takes on too many cases and does not devote equal attention to all of his clients. Its not to say there's a chance he'll be able to help you, you'll just have to beg for attention before you get a response. And that response will almost ALWAYS be "I'll look into it later this week".

After Richard missed my first court date in February of 2014 and allowed my case go into the bond forfeiture status (i.e. the courts start a Civil case against you), he couldn't even inform me when I eventually had a warrant out for my arrest. I was arrested in April of 2014 on my way to class at Texas State....granted, he DID get me out of jail that same day but, he COMPLETELY neglected to follow up with the courts in order to get my case cleared after I was released. 4 years later, my civil case goes into default and I owe the Travis County courts $2,000+. Fun fact: in Texas, you're responsible for your attorney's idiot mistakes. Richard's excuse/response will probably be something like "I didn't hear from her for four years" which is true, but from January 2014 when I hired him and April 2014, he did nothing except take my money, tell me he would "handle it" and then neglect my case entirely.

See my attached picture...when I asked him about it after receiving the default judgement notice in Feb. of 2018, he gave me that "I'll look into it later this week" excuse AGAIN and I decided to call the courts myself to get it handled. Only after speaking with an extremely helpful Judge's aide AND the Asst. District Attorney for Travis County, was I able to get my CIVIL case dismissed, pro se (on my own with NO HELP FROM RICHARD, AT ALL). Yes, you read that right...the entity that brought the case AGAINST me was more helpful than my lawyer. A person (me) with ZERO legal experience was able to get the case handled in less than a week while Richard stood by, promising to help, when he had no intention to.

I paid him an attorney's fee like everyone else and only got a four year headache and a day-long jail stay in return. Heed my warning....there are better lawyers out there than Richard Jones.

I was very happy the way my case was handled an with the out come. You have to understand him being a court appointed attorney they have a lot of cases an little time to really spend with each client. Yes he may be a little late sometimes having to deal with multiple clients. But any time I had questions he'd always responded quickly. Thank you Mr. Jones for your services. Hope I'll never have to need a criminal lawyer again but if so I'll be contacting you.

Richard Jones got me out of jail on a bond a week after I hired him. With false accusations of sexual assault and bieng offered 15-20 years TDC he came through. without having to go to trail the case was dismissed. Took about a year to get through this tough time but in the end it was worth the wait with Richard representing me.The amount he charged me for the case was also reasonable compared to others. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a good lawyer.

Save your money, time, self-respect, and peace mind. You will not find a lawyer here who will value you as a paying client. You will not find a lawyer here who will respect your time, you will not find an ounce of respect nor will you discover any peace of mind through this law firm.

Suggestion: Find ANYONE else.

I've never been made to feel at such mercy after paying for a service as I have since dealing with this crook. He is absolutely awful. DOES NOT do his job and will not remember you, or your case even if he has his notes. I can almost guaranteed he didn't look into any of my evidence. What a joke. Also any other attorney will do whatever they can in their power to find you or reach out to their clients, this guy makes you wave him down and text him (as if he never got paid and now he's doing you a favor) ONCE YOU PAY. YOU ARE ON HIS WATCH. NOT YOURS.

I had this guy court appointed to me in Williamson County. This stupid piece of work showed up on time to my case maybe 1 time out of the 2 year process that it took for him to get my case dismissed. He filed 4 different motions for continuance on my case because he was "stuck in traffic coming from Travis County". He used that excuse almost every single time like he forgot that he said it last time.

He also constantly forgot what my face looked like, he would always wander around and call my name out until I came over to him. I was using this guy for 2 years mind you.

I considered filing for a new attorney and telling the judge that this was incompetent representation but he FINALLY got my charge dismissed.

I literally had an affadavit from the so called victim stating that she had lied about the whole thing, and it took him 2 years to get me dismissed.

This guy is a joke.

EDIT: Yeah Mr. Jones, I get it, you got my charge dismissed, but it was your fault that we had to keep postponing the court dates because you wouldn't even show up. That's not fair. For 2 years I had a phony bologna assault charge on my name and you didn't give a crap enough to even remember what my face looked like. For 2 years I couldn't get a decent job. And you still could barely make it to the court on time.

My gf consulted with Mr. Jones on a Wednesday, and was out on bail that Friday. He was able to get me out on a bond when other attorney's couldnt. He didnt waste any time with getting the job done. Nor did he set any unrealistic expectations. I'm very pleased with his services thus far.

I called Mr. Jones extremely early this morning about my husband being arrested. He was very helpful in assisting us. He is fast and thoroughly efficient in his work. I am so greatful to have found a lawyer that is knowledgeable in his work who will be understanding and not judge you. This experience could have been horrible and drawn out but Mr. Jones was on top of everything and he updated me throughout the entire process. If you need a lawyer, go with the best!

Richard is a very experienced and very well knowned attorney in the Travis and Williamson county courts. I had 2 felonys in Travis county and 2 felonys and 1 misdemeanor in Williamson county. Through hard work and lots of patience he was able to get me probation on all these counts. I was there for every court hearing and watched Richard as he did his magic.
Hire this man and he will break his back for you. I watched him day in and day out as he fought for my rights and my freedom. Such a wonderful job he did. I am here today with my family and able to work to provide for them only because Richard fought for my rights.
Thanks Richard and Hannah.

My experience working with Mr. Jones was more than superb! I working with another attorney before coming across him and had the worst experience with him. Mr. Jones handled my my case the way I couldn't even imagine, professional, responsible trustworthy attorney!!

THE BOTTOM LINE: I had a misdemeanor 2 charges brought against me that were false. Richard got them dropped. He also got my seized property returned to me. Yes, at times communication left something to be desired but in the end he made it happen. He is a busy guy and he is also working hard for others. Know when your time comes he will work hard for you.

So in 2013 we were thrown into the worse circumstances of our lives. My husband (like something straight out of a movie) was falsely accused of committing a 2nd degree felony that happened in Austin when we were living out of state. After finding out about the warrant, we started looking for lawyers (it was a suggestion from a friend) we were turned away from so many lawyers in Austin due to it being a high profile case, with a lot of controversy. A female lawyer from Austin had even went as far as to rudely say that she would not help my husband because he was a criminal (without looking into the case) (isn't that what lawyers do, they help innocent people, and criminals) After a few days of hunting for a lawyer, we got a call back from Hanna, who then connected us with Richard. They believed in us, and in my husband. They were great to work with, very hands on, understanding, and helpful. Richard Jones is a busy man, so the previous comments, people need to realize how busy lawyers really are, working around the clock. After 7 hard long months, the case against my husband was dropped. We wouldn't be able to share this story if it wasn't for Richard presenting the prosecutor with the truth, and working hard for us!! We are thankful and very blessed to have worked with Richard and Hanna. They are kind, loyal, diligent people. Thank you both for all of your help :)

Richard has been handling a charge against one of our kids who did something stupid. During the process he provided us with very good advice on how to help our situation, he achieved the results that we hoped for, and has been cost effective throughout the ordeal. While we had better communication than maybe some indicate in other reviews, I can see where some of the points could have validity at times, but I think that's part of the trade-off you get when you look for an attorney that can take care of you legally while still being affordable. I'm sure that I could find an attorney who will respond within an hour or two to every call (when not in court) and will spend as much time as I want talking to me - but I would pay a hefty hourly rate for it. If you can accept that Richard has many clients that he's serving to keep your own costs low, and be a little patient at times, my experience is that you'll get great results and you'll still be able to pay your bills afterwards. I'm grateful to both Richard and Hanna for taking care of our family the way they have.

Richard Jones and his legal assistant Hanna did a wonderful job for me, he was court appointed for me however if I had money I would be happy to pay for their service...after 1 and 1/2 yrs he was able to get my case dismissed so I am back to a perfect record except the arrest record of course all of which should have never happened in the first place...communication with them was excellent, I feel I was very lucky to have Richard and Hanna work on my case....Thank you both very very much

DO NOT HIRE HIM!!! The prior review was not maid by me, but it was spot on. I wish I had seen it before I hired him. Freeman Symon is an SEO hired reviewer (click his name for yourself) so take that for what it is worth! I have unfortunately had to hire a few criminal defense attorney's and been court appointed to at least 3. This was by far the worst experience ever. Even worse that any court appointed attorney. His poor assistant Hannah has got to get some help. Richard has her so over-run, you can not expect anything from either of them. Unfortunately for her, he does not keep up with his clients and she is left to try to clean up the mess. You will regret hiring him if you do. He does NOTHING that he absolutely does not have to do.
