Lakeisha Jefferson is a well known crook in the civil court office. She represented my child’s father against me when he denied and never did anything financially for him. My son’s grandmother illegally held my son then hired Lakeisha. I was pressing charges for kidnap and at the time knew nothing about child custody or family court laws. The police asked my child’s grandmother to bring my child back to me at the police station.It took hours as Lakeisha went to the court house filled an emergency ex parte (which was denied), then held it in her hand so the police couldn’t see the whole document.. At that time I didn’t know that was very illegal in civil court and they kept my child over a month illegally because at my child’s father had no legal rights. Then she lied on their behalf and worked with my old lawyer Michael Hall (which I reported to the Attorney discipline board) to be lazy with the case and trick me into signing a consent judgment. DONT TRUST HER, DONT HIRE HER, SHE IS NO GOOD!!!

This law firm mailed a 'signature required' letter to my address however, I have lived here almost 10 years and this recipient is unknown to me. I did call the law office and let the receptionist, Lisa, know, gave the name on notice left by USPS and she was very polite and stated she would let the attorney know. After reading the previous comment I truly hope someone doesn't have problems for not responding to something that was never actually mailed to them. I believe something is extremely inept for a law firm sending what I suspect to be a legal document to the wrong address. I surely wouldn't want that to happen to me.

LaKeisha Jefferson is the worst attorney ever! I gave her a $3500 deposit, which came from my FEMA money after losing everything in the Baton Rouge flood, to represent me for a custody dispute and every piece of advice she gave me backfired in the worst way imaginable. First of all, she never returns phone calls or emails. Neither does her assistant. She advised me to sign a consent judgment to pay $2500 for a mental health and custody evaluator because the father of my kids is schizophrenic, has substance abuse issues, and is physically abusive. At the time, she said that the evaluator was "very thorough", but 7 months later after that crooked evaluator submitted an incomplete evaluation and recommended that my kids go with their abusive dad, she admitted that the evaluator had done that to many of her clients. Since when is it in my best interest for you to recommend this unethical court-appointed evaluator when you knew about her antics in advance?? So my money was flushed down the toilet and I lost custody of my kids. When we tried to have this foolishness fixed, she waited until the day before our scheduled court date to say that we were unprepared because I didn't give her what she asked for. She did this to me 3 times in a row! Had she returned phone calls, she would have known that she was asking me to get her something that was against Ochsner's policy. So after the first occurrence she filed a continuance and advised me to sign a consent judgment to PAY child support claiming that the next hearing is scheduled before the first payment was due so there was nothing to worry about. But she pulled the same garbage she did the last time claiming we weren't prepared for the hearing. I sent her an email complaining because her incompetency was about to put me in contempt for a failure to pay as I didn't have the money. We were pending a judgment for the father of my kids who already owed me $15K yet I'm being told to pay HIM. Of course she never responded. Then for the next scheduled court date, she didn't contact me until literally 2 hours before the hearing saying that I was obligated to come court so I could consent to an income assignment. So suddenly my wages are getting garnished and I only have a two-hour notice?? Unbelievable. Then she had the nerve to pull me aside after the hearing and tell me that I needed to communicate with her better. Wow... I was infuriated by her tomfoolery and sent her a long email demanding that she do a better job representing me. Instead of her doing that, she said she was withdrawing as my counsel of record just 6 days before the before the next scheduled hearing. I sent her a copy of my objection to her withdrawal, but she undercut me and walked her withdrawal to the judge's chambers to have it signed anyways. That's ILLEGAL!! I had no time or money to find another attorney. Then she gave me my file just 2 minutes before I walked into the hearing officer conference. And also she refused to give me a refund!!! When I read the paperwork in my file, i saw that she didn't even file what I told her to file. I could have done better going pro se. So now I'm suing her for malpractice. Do NOT hire her to represent you unless you DON'T want custody of your kids. No one like her deserves to be practicing law or let alone representing the wellbeing of abused children. Hopefully, she won't be in business much longer...
