I'm not aware of any attempt by your firm to reach out and "make this situation right" or an offer to "resolve the problem", however, I'm always open to a fair and honest discussion. Original Post...Be careful if you're promised "if you decide to move forward we'll apply that (the consultation fee) to the retainer". It may not be what you’re expecting; it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. In my opinion, it was a misleading statement made during the initial discussion by Sterling Peterson. I feel a more accurate statement should have been the consultation fee will be "in addition" to the retainer. However, what I consider to be more accurate wording may not be as enticing when trying to get a new client in the door.

I would have moved forward either way, because I liked what he was telling me, but I really felt misled once the billing arrived. In addition, I had a similar letter drawn up by another attorney (unfortunately she moved out of town) for less than half the price and she did an excellent job. I will say the service was good, but this experience, whether intentional or not, left a really bad impression on me and I will look elsewhere in the future.

It was really nice to get an email reply from an attorney's office that was friendly, customer-centric, and human. They were very quick to reply, spoke in a really professional but down-to-earth tone, and wasn't condescending in expecting us to know things or know what to ask.
