I definitely don't recommend going to this place for help. Went in today (10/16/18) for help, and they barely offered any! Not only that, I felt extremely uncomfortable dealing with them. These people are weird AF!

The lady was very nice at the front desk. I've had two experiences. The first one was really annoying because I made $10 more than the cut off or wait so they could not give me legal aid. Right away they're questioning process makes you feel like you're asking for a Million Dollar loan... even though they were legal aid place they were kind of turned off that I had absolutely no money to hire a lawyer. They had no other options for me and they really didn't even want to be bothered. They don't do anything with child support. They don't care and they don't want to be bothered... truthfully you're probably better off representing yourself because these people really don't care

The staff at Legal Aid have been great. They have been very responsive and super helpful and I haven't even met them yet. They are doing all they can to support my family. I'm truly appreciative.

Update. I weren't in to fill out forms I was told could have been done via phone, but it was good to go in and see someone and ask questions. Weeks later and we are still waiting for a lawyer to agree to take our case pro bono. The folks at legal aid are still working daily to make that happen, but it is a long wait. My attorney friends in other states have advised me that it may take a lot longer than the 30 days we initially thought. It's frustrating, butwe don't have other options becausewe cannot afford the $2500 retainers attorneys ask for.

I'd tell anyone looking to Legal Aid for help, that if you can do it yourself, do it yourself. If it requires an attorney, find the funds to do it if you can. Otherwise, be prepared for a very long wait from a well-intentioned organization. It's not their fault; it's just the way things are. I hope my family can hold on and that Legal Aid can get us the help we so desperately need for this child.

They told me I had 5 minutes, what do I need. They said go to court ask for dismissal or continuence along. Neither granted and I lost. Before I even called them to tell them what happened I got a letter saying that was all the time they could give me.

They never even new my case # or called.
